Va Beach v20 project

Looking good man...what an epic thread!

Hey, got your message the other day. Did ya'll go? Catch any brown ones? Did you get my PM?

hey blue, I did not fish down there. A buddy from work went and they did good and caught one that was 72 pounds!!!! I will post pics tomorrow.

Epic thread, looking over 50 pages worth, I can only fault you for your taste in beer. CL or Nothin for this fat boy. Looking good.. As for fairing with Gelcoat, if you are that close on the glasswork go for it. BUT gel is no where near as easy to sand as fairing putty. Only way to do it and make it shine takes a lotta work. At some point in ?3 coats you have to add the wax to get the gel to cure, graduate your sanding from 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000 because you wind up buffing the gel to a shine in the end. Otherwise it will be dull and I don't think going back and adding additional coats of gel after using the wax is advisable. Some other guys add Duratec to the gel I think. Makes it more durable and makes the shine last. if you aren't going to use it as a fairing putty. I got to go back and read Shine's many threads on CSC. He seems to have a grip on it.

thanks for the info Ridge!!

So I am a thrifty research kinda guy. I like finding products that work but at the same time are easy on the wallet. I am not going to be using the interlux perfection product on my boat because they dont have the color I want so ive switched to a urethane enamel. On the outside above water line and inside liner sides Im gonna be using a paint made by benjamin moore. Its called p22 industrial urethane enamel. After comparing specs with Pettitt Easypoxy and interlux Brightside I have found out that ingrediant wise the benjamin moore product is a step above theses "MARINE LABELED" paints because of the increased polyurethane percentage. The cool thing about the benjamin moore product is that it can be tinted by them any color you want!!!! And the really really cool thing about this paint is that its $34.00 dollars a gallon!!!!! It all goes back to my saying "same $hit , different sack". Shes gonna be getting a paint job here real soon fellas!!!! I realize that enamels are not as durable but it nice when the paint is not gonna be in a high traffic area on the sides of the liner and the hull sides. the floor and cap will be taped in and i will be using the alephatic product in those areas of traffic.

well completely ignore every thing above!!! LOL! I just got off the phone with the district rep for our area and he is getting ready to paint his regulator with this http://www.insl-x.com/viewProd.asp?prodID=539 its a alephatic 2 part urethane called a urethatic. Its better than alwgrip is what he told me. It can be tinted any color you want and he can get me a huge discount at 60 dollars a gallon. So I guess I will be going with a highly durable paint system.

Started fairing today!!!!! what a pain in the @$$!!!!!!! all i can say is that its alot of work and freaking sanding!!! cut some holes in my gunwales for my hawse pipes that go thru to my cleats and hotcaoted them. I am so ready for this thing to be done!!!!

Dear V20, I am so sorry that I have put you aside for an old ragged jetski. It will be fixed soon and I will finish you up I promise!!!!! lol!!!:you:

Well Im back fellas!!! its been a while!! Lifes complications has put the boat on hold for the past month. I will be starting the boat back up in couple days and will not stop until it is done!! finish pics coming soon

WOW!!! Its been a while!!! been helping a buddy get his kencraft together forsale. but here is some pics of the motor transom bracket that has been painted and the trim and tilt parts. I used the Moeller color vision gloss white out of a rattle can and it came out awesome! all parts still need to be wet sanded and sprayed with the moeller clear coat

rolled 2 coats of this urethatic rubber surface on the inside of the console tonight. holy cow this stuff is tuff as nails. I really think im gonna roll the whole topside with this stuff. it easy as crap to touch up if it is needed. It chemically reacts to moisture, meaning the higher the humidity the faster this stuff set off and the harder it sets off. Its some pretty cool stuff. im trying to pratice on some hidden stuff so i get my technique down.

Made a temoplate for my transom wash board today out of an old sheet of FRP. thie template will be tranferred to a piece of 1 inch thick starboard for my final piece.

Seems your giving up a lot of restate in the transom area for a splash board. Why not move it aft more and use a drop door to provide the necessary room for the engine when it is tilted up for transport/storage?

thought about doing a drop door and it still can be done. Right now where it sits is only 12 inches off the transom whick really isnt alot. Ive mock fished the boat and have rod holders layed out and it seems that every thing is easily reachable. Im gonna mock the motor up again before I place the washboard and then I will take pics. let me know what ya think.

Looking great Kracker!!

I am still plucking along on my sons V project. I am going to add a splash well similar to that to his. He has the fishboxes in the back that I have to work around, but shouldn't be a big deal.

Side note: I see you still have EXCELLENT taste in beer. This is a motivational Natty pic for you when you splash

heres the wash board all finished up. I will fabricate the starboard cleats that get mounted to the liner to hold the washboard in place.

after a very very long build process i was finally able to apply my epocy primer tonight!!! very excited because for me this is a mile stone. After moving to the new house and getting settled then a break up right at the time my lease ended forced me to move out again so life has been very complicated lately!!! Imk sure you guys are bored to death with this boat and all of you im sure is ready for me to get this thing done. just want to thank everyone for all your help son far. here are some pics from tonight.
