my project wellcraft 180 fisherman

yes smokeonthewater that is what i was asking i also show different types of bracket to see witch one can work better with out me cutting the transom and had to make a wash area i like my close transom also i am trying to save as much as i can from the old omc with out using the power head but i have no choice to discard that idea i have no experience when it comes to boats that's why i have a bit difficulty explaining and trying to get a solution to my problems witch they are simple i see now i have to get a 25" motor and a bracket witch it comes to my other question how far back dose the bracket needs to be for the motor

thanks guys for all the help and trying to figure out this problems :head:

I completely misunderstood your direction. I thought you were trying to use a jack plate as a bracket. my fault bud.

I found this pic for ya showing platform added with aluminum tubing. This is based on a stainless bracket.

here's my friends sea vee, he welded the Armstrong ladder mount to the tubing as well

He builds T-Tops for a living, so the welding is easy for him, the bracket and steps were painted with awlgrip paint. The wood is either teak or ipe decking, I can't remember which

I did this one on my 18, used 3/4" treated to build the backing, then cut foam and used white vinyl. Not much to it, just use stainless staples.

I will start the installation tomorrow if I can

Nice.

Have you thought about dealing with the additional weight of the outboard and bracket further off the transom? My 18' had a problem with letting water in the scuppers and drains at rest with a notched transom.
