i've often wondered why some doesn't make a bracket that would plug the I/O hole, and use the existing bolt holes( probably add a few extra), seems like a good idea, I guess back to that whole liability thing

I fixed my hole different then that, I wish we were all doing pic's back then so I would have taken pic of the work. :'(

But what I did is left the outside skin alone, I went on the inside and squared off the hole, and added two 3/4 pieces of ply, and glassed it all in.
Then went to the out side and just glassed matt in layers till I built it out to the same level as the rest.

My crazy thought at the time is if there was any pull form the out side the plug I made was bigger on the inside and never fit out the hole it the transom.

But after a few years of watching and learning, I know now that was never going to happen.

Good work BS!!

I should have thought about a Xmas tree holder and block when I did mine!!

Looks good!!

I was going to call you today but I was busy, good thing I didn't by the look of the pic's!

Hammer I stuck it on with 5200 so it'll never come off :)

Here's a few pics of the boat with the motor mounted.

Getting real close now.

I decided to go with the old verticle front half 1979 merc v200, 3wire trim setup, 2:1 ratio gears, and a newer cowling :) instead of the 2.0L 150 . . . I'll try them both at some point and compare, but the 200 is on first.

Fuel tank was a lucky find at the local marine salvage stop. It's 35 gallons 23x7.5x48 for $90 . . . any bigger and it wouldn't have fit. I actually had to grind the lip on fuel hatch opening for it to fit.
