Hammer's transom Rebuild

Lumber, Yes, Picked up a free 1978 v20. Putting in a new transom and reselling. Hopefully enough profit to pay for the other dive platform for my 86 V. ;D

YOU LAUGH MY BROTHER, WIFEY OVER HEARD ME TELLING SOMEONE ABOUT IT AND SHE LOOKED ME RIGHT IN THE EYE AND SAID " TELL ME YOU DIDN'T BRING IT HOME i'LL KILL YOU" sO, i'M GOING TOMORROW, WHILE STILL ON DUTY, AND TAKING PICS AND COMING UP WITH A GOOD PITCH. ANY IDEAS? ;D

I figure if nothing else, I'll have my 18 done and then have this one to plunder with the next how ever many years it takes to finish.

LOL, Ches. You could bring home a dozen of rose's for the wifey when you bring the V home. Cant Wait to see the Pics. Of this V. What year is it again ???

Did some more slave work in the hot sun today. Grinding down everything I could.

Making a template for the new transom wood. I was gonna use the old skind, but I want the new one to fit perfect.

But then again, I just came home for dinner and seen the bills. After seeing teh bills, I still might just part it out. Plus seeing that dually on E-Bay for 500 bucks and nobody bought yet. I might just get stuck with this after I redo the transom.

Hammer, lookin really good man. As Bill and Ted would say, "looks most excellent!"

I commend your hard work....don't part it out. I think you could make more $$ just selling it as is! You are learning alot in the process of this too, so keep going is my vote.

Nice work! ;) 8)

P.S. When I first stumbled upon your post I thought this was your V - then I realized it was your freebee ::)

Thanks guys. Ready for the wood, just dont have a pick-up. Might have to call on Parishht and his pick up for a Home Depot run for two sheet of 3/4. ;D

With a new transom and a decent trailer she will sell. The only problem you may have is in our part of the country boat buying season is winding down. Put that boat on the "Bassbarn" for $1000 with a new transom and trailer and she will definetly sell.

Absolutely, if you can wait till the weekend of August 18,
that is the next time I will be making it down. ;) ;)

Hammer,

I don't know how I have missed it, but this is the first time I looked at this thread.

You are an animal my friend. I am blown away by your work so far.

I may have missed it somewhere in all this, but have you thought about making this a full transom boat and putting on a bracket?

It couldn't be that much more work and you would have your dream V.

LOL Guys. The support here is great and it really pushes me forward. So this work today out in th eheat stroking sun goes out to all you guys who are supporting me on this project.
Borrowed a buddies truck, zoomed out to Home Depot and grabbed two sheets of of 3/4 and got to work on this project.

Laying out temp.

Knocked in a quick 2x4 so the new work will keep its shape. I managed to mark out the second piece, but I started not feeling right in the heat. I just managed to make it home and cool down in the shower. This is a bad heat wave we are in. Hope to have more done next week. Still hoping to get some free resin. Lefty is watching every penny. :-/
