Hello. Im new to this group. I have just aquired a 1974v20 steplift in pretty great shape. It has the 165hp 6cyl with omc outdrive. I originally bought it for the motor for my 1966 23 foot john allmand ticonderoga, but after looking at the boat im sure I would get better gas milage on the wellcraft than my allmand. Question is I have a 1978 mercury 140 hp inline 6, 2 stroke. Was woundering if it was a better idea to put my merc on the wellcraft, and put the 165 in my allmand. Any ideas?
Hi the best method is to put a layer of 3/4 oz chopped strand mat over the top, that way you won't see the weave
Manny,

Checking out your post on your rebuild...a few questions.

1. When you said you used the "rubber stuff" to coat the floor what did you mean...durabak or hurculiner? (which we are considering) or something else? Smooth or textured?
2. What did you paint your center console with...are you happy with the results...the photos look good.

Our link is here...kind of a mess to follow but lots of good photos. Stringers and floor redone: http://www.wellcraftv20.com/community/showthread.php?t=20093

Thanks.

Liam,

We got our floor installed and fiberglass laid tonight with 1708. I'm a bit concerned how textured the 1078 & resin will leave the floor...knowing how it was on the stringers.

Do many builders put another coat of resin down to level out the rough nature the 1708?

We are going to put a durabak or line-x textured floor in so it will have roughness to it anyways but hope to smooth even the roughness of those products with a 2nd coat of the non-textured.

All from this post you commented on: http://www.wellcraftv20.com/community/showthread.php?t=20093&page=2
Morning, i have an old wellcraft v-20 steplift that when you turn the steering wheel it clicks like the gears in the steering are jumping each other and the motor will not turn. has anyone had this happen, and is it more like the steering cable gone ore the steering box gone?
Hey Chasapeake 724, was wondering if you had anymore of the Wellcraftv20.com stickers like you sent before, I'd really like to buy some. Thanks

Hey Spare - please take a look at the thread I just posted in General - Electronic ignition for 170. I trust your advice - you really helped me through my alternator and water pump repairs. Thanks - Scott
Hey Val...guy named shurlock PMd me says he tryin to get on as new member...I see where it says welcome new member and his name...can ya contact him?
How much do want for them? It's for my sons boat. He bought it a few months ago and the engine had to be rebuilt right away. He really wants an enclosure but the rebuild cost him way more than he expected. If they are close to the right size it would be cost effective to modify them to fit.
Robert,

I do, but I don't think they will fit the '88. The side curtains came from a '74 when the windshield was not as wide. But if you think you can make them work I'm willing to part with them.

Rick
Do you have front and side covers for a v20? Sounded like you might from one of your posts. My son just got a bimini for his 88 v20 and wants front and side curtains. Thanks,
-Robert
Hey TM quick question maybe you know if you remove the oil injection off of a 175 mercury how do you remove the gear or shaft that goes down in the block??
