Who’s got the oldest V boat ?

Me,I Do. 1978 V20. And love her , I think the newest V is still going to be 30 years old . Mine is 47 years old and still is better looking than the newest boats made today. I love looking at my boat and all the other Vs out there

Awesome ! Would love to see pics .
What’s original and what’s been redone - transom, fuel tank, other ?

Engine 150 1988 mercury she came with a 115 and the guy I bought it from put on the 150. Still going strong. Knock on wood
The fuel tank was replaced. A very long time ago. When I first got her I almost broke down on the water but didn’t. I had the fuel tank replaced with a 55 gallon plastic tank. I also had to get a new trailer 2012. And put on an aluminum transom saver to take some strain off the transom. That’s about it except for the normal stuff. Plugs, switch boxes. Steering cable thermostats. Stator a few times , trigger assembly. To name a few
I love that boat,my boat
I would love to post pictures but I don’t know how to , now she is far from perfect but so am I. lol she is a good boat.
If I had to give her a number from 1. To. 10. I would. Give her a 7. But me personally I would give her 20.

The only advice I can give you or anyone buying a boat, old or new, if you don’t like working on your boat ( repairs and waxing and upkeep) don’t buy one. I love working on my boat .not rebuilding her just maintaining her Some people said to me. Why don’t you buy a new boat. Why? I have the best one now. It’s like a 1957 corvette very classic and beautiful. Same here . Thanks. 😊

Been between boats for while after owed a Mako …but have enjoyed lurking on this site for long while before posting.
The political forum was fun, that guy green seemed to take beating for not liking trump…
V boats are pretty and mostly reasonably priced

Bgreene did have TDS. But I will say one thing about him ,if you seen the wellcraft that he had sold ,she was a beautiful boat. He really kept her in top condition. I think they removed him from this site. To bad. Two things you don’t talk about. Is politics and religion at least that’s what I have been told. Someone on here bought greenes boat. A very nice boat. You have a lot of very good people on this site, always giving great advice and helping.

My first V was a 1972 or 1973. When I bought it she had twin 140 Johnnyrudes on it. Transom needed work. I don't think it was ever splashed after the PO put the twins on it. Not sure if it would've floated number one and number two - the aforementioned bad transom. I had the transom repaired, put the better of the two 140's on it and sold it. Sold the other 140 to SkoolsOut on here. Around the same time I ran across my 1994 V21 on this site (around 2004). I bought it, sold the older Yamaha 150 and put a brand new Yamaha 150 2 stroke on it. I'm guessing I have ~1000 - 1200 hours on it at present and still going strong. It has been a fantastic boat for me over the last 21 years. I wash it directly after every saltwater use. I think that helps tremendously.

You guys are a lot better to your boats than i am. Had mine 32 years and haven't waxed it yet. Used to wash with soap & brush in the spring and just rinse when we got home. 25 years ago, i built a pole barn in side yard to store it under. that helped a lot. I did buy a cheap elec pressure washer from Lowes ten years ago and hard mounted it under the shed and now i power wash it when we come in.

now I'm feeling guilty

)I wash my boat and flush my motor every time I get back from fishing. Every time I also wax her a few times a year the waxing doesn’t really do much, she looks good for a few weeks but never all summer. Now if I her her professionally waxed by someone who knows how to she would look great. 👍. But I do myself
