Maybe I can help. As part of the process of rebuilding my 1980 CC, I decided to replace the plastic rodboxes but did not want the rectangular plastic boxes being sold by Flounder Pounder Marine. Did the best next thing…made a mold out of the old plastic trapezoidal original rod boxes and I should be popping my first new set of fiberglass rod boxes next week. I will take pictures and post them and will figure out what’s the best price I could sell them for. I can probably even make copies of the original rod holders in either teak or starboard. Pass it on to other members.

builder;
I'm also looking for rod boxes, I have 91 V-20, white color boxes.

Let me know what youre selling them for.

Heck if they are that good maybe you can make the seat boxes also?

you sound like a real fabricator. I cant wait to see them, i have old and cracked rodboxes that do not even match the color of the boat. i really dont use the rod boxes for what they are for ;D, but would like it to look a little better. Just keep me updated and tell me what you would want for them, I have a 1989 v-20.

thanks,

Hammer for you, yes I can. However I would need a template of the transom curve and angle and it would be in aluminum, not glass. Same for the hardtop although it add lots of weight to an otherwise agile craft. Will also post pictures of my new custom full transom and bracket with dive platforms. By the way, I don’t post a lot, but log-on regularly and always learn from you guys. Thanks!

Builder, post some pics of that custom transom and bracket. You do this for a living ? or hobby.
We "me" are Ho's when it comes to posting of pics. Love to see things from the start to finish. Post some pics. when you get time.  ;D

No, it just took the measurements, made a template and had the bracket custom built by an outfit (A & J Marine Welding, Inc.) that fabricates them in Miami.

PICS ???, what Pics. Where ???, Who's holding out  >:(
I checked the Gallery, didnt see your gallery. Is it under teh V-20 cuddys ?? Hook me up, I need a picture fix.  ;D

Fish, they nice nice rod boxes, they look just like mine, but you will need to cut the opening bigger. Plus I think they have a lip in the bottom. Means they are suposed to sit flush on the deck. That again means cutting low to the deck like I did. I dont like them because its easier for water to get behind the gunnel. Plus as the problem that I ran into is the fuel line. The back of my rod boxes hit my fuel line, so you may have to relocate the direction of the fuel line. That was a pain. I dont use teh rod boxes, but they were new, so i threw them in. I would prefer to run 1/4 starboard down the whole side over the rod holder and mount dive tank holders. Maybe in teh future, but it might hurt the resale. There seems to be more fishing guys then divers. ;D

i dont use them at all but want the boat to look a little nicer the ones i have now are cracked, dirty, yellow, and they are falling out because the screw holes are bigger than the screws. i also have my deck light screwed in to them would that be a big problem or could i just moun them to the new box. i found my measurements the boxes are 60" long 16 1/2" wide and 3 1/2" deep. so i think they were two small anyway. i am never going to sell mine so i can do what ever i want. i like the idea of just covering them with starboard., insted of making it a scuba tank holder i would put some type of cushion over it and make it a leaning post when fishin'.

builders pics are in the center console gallery......great work there builder!...wish i had the space and tools to do complete workovers like that...looks like blast!(with the help of a couple illegal mexicans)

Odd place for deck lights. Mine are mounted higher, just above the rod boxes. I dont remember the measurements for mine, but 60" or so sounds right, or maybe slightly bigger.

i put them there so i didn't rip them off one day fishin' like running to get a pole and knock it off.

look here is were they are

see the light over in the left top corner is that bad placing ??? should i move them or just mount them to the new rod boxes.

No, keep it. Actually thats a big light. I like it. I have these tinly little whimpy lights. A total of four of them.
Your light is actually recessed so you dont bump into it.
I might do teh same now maybe. ;)
