Va Beach v20 project

Looks good Kracker! Looks like your almost out of the fabrication phase and onto the fine tuning for finish. Way to stick with it.

I can't wait for the fine tuning and fairing stage!!! That's were I'm gonna excell. I'm a perfectionist or atleast try to be. Yea I can't wait to slick her up and prime her. I have a buddy of mine who's a true genius when it comes to painting and he is insisting on painting this boat. He's gonna spray the VC performance epoxy on the bottom of the boat and paint the outside the boat "fighting lady yellow". I also have a cousin in Fayetteville,North Carolina who owns a auto/marine paint store and she is basiclly gonna give me the 3 quarts of Imron for the outside the boat. The inside is gonna be rolled gelcoat in a workboat style. I saw a boat today that inside was painted at the beginning of the summer and it already looks like poop!!! So gelcoat it is.

Nice Work Cracker

Well I have mine closed in so time for a bracket. Just have to plug the hole from the I/O. I just picked up a 25" Zuk 200 for the battle wagon.

What kind of Bracket do you reccomend, Designwise if we make one.
Looks like mightr need a spool gun for the MIG.

I/O is nice but the water is going away up here in the Great Lakes cant use the launches with I/O any More:nut:

Let me know on your Bracket research KJ

Wow! I haven't posted on this thread in a while! I worked on the v today. Glassed last of the inner rail up forward at the bow. I plan on glassing the bow arch tomorrow and maybe glueing a screwing it in place. I also cut my recesses or access channels in my guwhale supports today which I have pictured, this is gonna allow me to run my 2 16 foot led shots from bow to stern and any other future wiring. Hope to have her done soon,it shure did feel good to work on her today.

finally

Looks good man keep us a little more updated. Last one was before the end of the world. Glad they postponed it. Got my new DT200 ZUK

Precut cloth and let it relax and get some memory before I glassed it.

Had to get my little sidekick to help me today seeing how I can't get any of you guys to give me a hand!
IMAG0444.jpg

All wetted out and ready to be glued and screwed and then tabbed .

Man the boat sure is looking nice. What is even nicer is all of the room you are going to have in that thing. That's one of the things I liked about my old V20. It didn't have the molded in bait well and fish box which gave it a lot of room. Don't get me wrong tho, I like the molded boxes on the V21 because I use one for beverages and the other for fishies without having to take the cooler. I also bring along a fish bag for those lunkers that won't fit in the fish box. But I've only had to break out the bag once and that was for a fat YFT. Fish that won't fit in the box = an awesome problem to have IMO....

Union are you talking about edwardPic on THT?

Yes that guy is pretty crazy. Now I know where you get it from.
I am learning quite a bit from you guy's.

Embarking on another build need more room for TUNA. Doing a CC Bertram 25. When is rockfish season I will come down for a splash.

Now if we get some temps that will be condusive to glass.....

Keep up the good work. Spring getting closer and closer.

Me and big E have a lot in common. He just has nicer tools and toys to work with. My build is in the true fashion of a shadetree, makeshift restoration.

Great work SO far...

Yes that is what makes it fun, trying to do everything perfect for a budget minded restoration. I am taking notes on both of you guys. Both of do great work, he sure has the right tools. those molds come out nice.

When the V is almost next in line. We can have out right materials lined up. Need to find a set of DT200 ZUK controls, and find a bracket.

Then the floor repairs. She looks like a snow girl out there. Under the Shade tree with the engine hanging from the Gantry. Keep up the good work. Looks like a nice warm spell for you down there.

We can almost drive the Disco on the ice!:oh: come on spring...

Here is my project for tomorrow. I'm gonna be glueing and screwing and the tabbing this bow arch in place. This will be my last structual piece that I put into place. As you can see 2 inch course thread stainless screws will hold it in place on the port and starboard side and 6 1 1/2 coarse thread stainless screws hold it in place under the anchor rope locker. I can't wait to get this piece done and move on to the cap. She not glassed in yet and she is solid as a rock!!!!!

For some reason this picture makes the bulkhead look like its not level and out of wack to the rest of the boat. But its not.

So I really liked the look and function of draglinks sprayshield on the "natural light" boat I saw pictures of. So I made one today for my console. I also milled some starboard trim for my console opening.

Now thats ironic right there......I just downloaded those pictures bc thats what I want to do with my sons console on HIS V. I hate the old '73 console....want a smaller one and that spray sheild LOOKS AWESOME!!.......and my Natty Light was the inspiration for it!!

Well I've come up with another backyard scrap wood idea. I wanted a leaning post behind the console but don't feel like paying the big money for one and then I would lose lots of storage area. So I took my old bench seat and have built a 12 inch tall box on top of it, and by cutting a large lipped hole on the back side I can keep life jackets in the bottom of the bench seat and make a starboard covering board that will be bottom of my upper opened storage area. I will incorporate 4 or 6 rod holders in the back ( black magic marker pictured) and right below the rod holders on the back will be that upper tackle storage(black magic marker drawn on the back). I will then get my buddy to make me a low profile pad for the front. I keep my same foot print of the cockpit with added storage. And like Emeril would say "BAM"!!!!!!!
