long story short, I bent over to pick up a screw driver and felt something give in my back, I hurt my back a few years back, but this felt different. I treid a few of the exercises I learned from PT to help, but it didn'tet any better. I was able to get back in my van and get confortable enought to drive home. Once I got home, I tried to work out the kink some more but it kept getting worse. When I tried to get up off the floor, my back went into spasms. I've never hurt like that before. My neighbor is an EMT, she came over and got me stabilized, they called the ambulance, it took foour fire fighters to get me on hte stretcher, all the while I'm still having spasms. Once I was laying down on the gurney, I started getting better, the spasms were subsiding. They checked me in at the ER where we met Doc Dumb(Barbie) and DUmber(A-hole). I guess they thougt I was an insurance scam or just wanting drugs so they gave me minimal attention, a couple x-rays, some mild pain reliver and let me lay there for a couple of hours. Then they said you're ready to go home. My wife and I were like what? They told me to try and get out of the bed, when I started moving, my back fired up again and I started spasin again. Barbie didn't have a clue, A-hole started moving my legs to see what would trigger it, he set it off even worse. Everyone was running their mouth and I was in pain, I asked every one to be quiet till I could get some controll over the spasms. A-hole kept running his mouth, I told him again to be quiet, but he wouldn't shut up, I finally told him to STFU! He said he had other paitents to see, I told him where he could go. AFter they say what kind of pain I was in, they ordered a MRI, don't know why they didn't before hand. We had a really good nurse who took over and got things done. Less than an hour later Doc A-Hole came in saying I had a ruptured disc. They transferd me to a room for the night. The next morning, we met the nureologist. He told me I didn't have a ruptured disc, but the channel that the spinal cord goes thru in my spine was restricted(We knew this from my previous back issues), the nerves would get inflamed from contact of the spinal wall. Simple solution was to grind out more room for the nerves. Did a background check on the surgon, he worked under the guy who operated on Kendall, he got very good recomendations and figured this would be a fix, rather than a maintanence issue(PT, CP). SPent about an hour in surgery, got some gooooood pain medicene(note my crappy spelling), recuperating well, but my back is sore, not where I was having the problems, but the whole area around(lower back, ***, upper thighs). The nurse said it was probably more from the bed than hte surgery. Any how, I'm headed back home this afternoon, taking it easy for a few days, he siad I could start back working light on Monday.
BTW, my wife already wrote a letter to the hospital about dumb and dumber in the ER
