Main Floor Drains

Somewhere about 1988 they raised the deck maybe 2", at the expense of cockpit depth. I'm just guessing here, but I'd bet that pre 88 I/O's drain to the bilge and 88 and later dran overboard. I'm sure Wellcraft had a good reason.

I'm not sure if there is a waterline difference between Outboard and I/O boat or not. Maybe Wellcraft just though that with a full transon it would be OK? Bilge pump can handle rain water, but with a notched transom they wanted the floor to drain better? I'm reaching here....

Here you go I took 2 of the outside (port & stbd) and one from the inside, the inside is 2-3" below my dk level, the rod box is remvd and the image is shown below the main dk lvl.

ps the chrome outlet is the dk drn and of course the blue line is the water line, but I never get water back into the boat unless I have a 350lb+ guy in there standing right at the drain. Also the plastic overbd drn and is 2-3" abv dk level. The inside pic shows the shoulder support for the dk so that should give you a idea of the placement.

let me know if I can help further.

so is it the white one? what is the stainless one? live well feed?

is there any type of anit-reverse flow device in the drain? what i mean is can water from outside come into the bilge?

I have a 75 and all goes to the bilge, I have wanted to try to make a self bailer, but I would need to see more pictures! ;D
Were are your drains on the deck? and how do they stop the water from going down threw the engine cover?

Thanks!

my 81 outboard drains from the corners of the cockpit to the splash well, just 3/4 hose plumbing it. I guess its self bailing in theory, but two 3/4 outlets are nowhere near enough. I plan to open up the cockpit drains to at least 1"(maybe even bigger) ID, and drain them over board rather than to the splashwell. Do the outlet drains work better on the side of the boat or the back?

dk drn deck drain,

The second outlet you see (plastic) is for my bilge pump on 1 side and on other side it's for my aerator.

I have clips that screw in that block off the eng cvr, my drains are located about 1-2" fwd of the aft bhd.

I can take pics of the eng cvr block off's and the deck drain ("dk drn") if anyone would like, but it will have to be tomorrow, I have to leave for work in the next 20 minutes.

Thanks garage, I'm not the sharpest.

Spare, I think the drains are on the side to allow them to be higher in relation to the waterline than if they were out the back, the transom being the lowest part of the boat.  If you run them out the back you would have to be sure to put flappers on them, otherwise water will shoot in when you back up.

Sorry i cant keep up with you all at night, I live here in the bOld Folksside of Florida and when it gets dark we all r ready 4 bed
