jersey blues! nice job. I took my 5y.o. little Charlie out yesterday on "his" boat, I also have a 15 duranautic w/ 35 evinrude, we got a mess of coctails. I dont eat bluefish but I like catching them...so does Charlie, enough so that I upgraded him to a 6ft. uglystick w/Penn 4400SS,10lb. test.He lands 'em every time!

Phester, it's a combination cooler/swingback seat that mounts to the floor with six screws. I do occationally take it out; It can be kind of in the way when trying to land big fish.
For calm'er activities , like fluke fishing or crabbing, it can be very handy to have..

Hey do yall eat those?

They are considered a nuisance here. Ive eaten them, but they are pretty strong. They do get ALOT bigger up there though..fun to catch. 8)

Not trying to be a jerk...just wonderin. ;D

Stinky, I love small bluefish under 3 lbs or so. Double fillet, remove dark strip from meat, batter and fry. Same day is best but it'll last a day in a ziplock in the fridge. I wouldn't try to freeze any though. Meat is oily and doesn't freeze well.

Its some really good eating despite what you might hear from others. The sad fact is that the ones that don't like it probably ate a piece of that dark strip down the middle due to a poor job cleaning the fish. Either that or tried to freeze and eat a month later :-/

I like it almost as good as flounder (fluke).

I eat them, but the rest of the family doesn't like them so my wife won't cook'em. I wound up with 4 bags of fillets, already gave 3 away, might try to cook some on the grill from the bag I have left.

Double fillet like BR's talkin' about and cook on SMOKER w/ some bell pepper and onion... ;D...DEELISHUSH!!...only way to cook king mackeral, too...IMHO, of course... 8)...

That does sound good. I've heard the bigger blues are much better smoked. The smaller ones are just fine fried. Here's another way we fixed em:

1) Go out and buy a $600 Holland Grill
2) Next, Take cleaned bluefish meat (from small fishes) and lightly coat with melted butter, salt/pepper.
3) With grill pre-heated to 375 or whatever the Holland cooks at wide open, place fish on grill and close lid. Do not open lid for 10 min. If ya lookin you aint cookin! Open lid and slam face into bluefish meat. Chase down bluefish with favorite beverage and 1 doz. steamed blue crabs ;D ;)
4) Go to bed with pretty woman or wife. Which ever you prefer.

P.S. Cut ALL that dark meat OUT! One little piece can spoil the batch! Also, remember that freshness counts. Now back to the bluefish :o :o :o

Enjoy! Its good I promise!
