Is there anything affixed to the bottom of the hatch, to help it slide? Anything like rubber or foam seals? Close up pictures of the hatch on 1977 and earlier models appreciated. I'm also making the assumption that there was no door that closed off the cuddy? I see no attachment points for anything like that.
Destroyer, thanks for your reply. I snagged a picture from Blue Runner, he has a good one that shows the construction of the hatchway into the cuddy. This is the same as my boat. The aft cabin wall is 1/2" ply, and I don't see a way for a door to be constructed to fit.Yes, the cuddy is closed off by a door. The sliding hatch lands on the top of the door, and the lip on the hatch folds over the rear edge of the door so that when the hatch is in place the cuddy door cannot be opened.
