hey was siked for you, guess thats a good thing to open his trap about haha, then again telling me is like telling the wall because who else would i tell about it rather than you. I am up to 4 sanding coats,5 compound coats and 4 wax coats already done on the seacraft what a job but it looks pretty good now considering its 24 yrs old. next is the new steering system, installation of an electronics box, minor floor repairs and radar and northstar installations. Why did i do this ?????
Not a done deal on the motor. I only told Joe I was looking and thinking about it. The guy is on a cruise this week, so I'll talk to him again when he gets back. There's a good chance I'll buy it, but we'll see.
He can't keep his trap shut about anything. LOL
wow ,i heard your getting a new engine way to go pal !!!!! I have been sanding the crap out of the seacraft for the last week, looks like a black boat finally haha. Gona compound it one more time tommorow and possibly put a coat of wax on it for some protection & redo it again in spring hmmm. Joe is all excited about his new gps, maybe thats what I should have bought rather than another boat :)
hi ferm,
got a question! 350chevy 1986 vintage in my v20 has 1256 hours. when i got it sat for year or two got it running needed to replace exhaust manifold and exchangers still ran hot. so i figured salt water cooled motor of this vintage is clogged up in the block and head passages. sure enough i cleaned out block and found heads shot too. so i got heads off newer motor with top bolted valve covers. and changed the intake manifold. because of newer design bolt holes. put it together and ran awesome. buttt i have just a tad low oil pressure!! 22lbs at idle and 35- 40lbs running around 3500 rpm. or higher. no noise or nocks sounds perfect but since am pulling the motor out to clean bilge and touch up a stringer think i will check the rod and mains bearing. also do you think the oil pump should be changed. or should i leave good enough be? also put mechanical gauge on block to check pressure same reading as electric sender. what do you think thanks tommy
Bruce, nope I'm Shane. Nice to meet you. Let me know when you plan to splash that sweet 18 down at Murrell's Inlet. We'll be down there this summer pounding the nearshore out to 20 miles or so. Caught a sail 13 miles out this past fall while king/spanish fishing.
I use to know a guy who went by blue runner, his name is Jimmy, does that happen to be you?
My trailer for the 21 fits on the seacraft perfectly so i think I am even good with the trailer, going to also put the radar and northstar in the seacraft and i will have an inexpensive upgrade to a larger joe like machine. Now the only dreamwould be a 4 stroke but then again who has joes cash damit !!! Whats up with the scout ? You get in the water much this yr ?
Yeah, when Joe told me you were looking at that Seacraft, I told him those pics were taken right where I used to slip my Grady White. I had looked at it a couple times listed on CL. That's a real good buy there and with the engine swap, there's basically no unknown's to deal with. You know you've got a good motor. You checked out the hull already, just fix up the trailer and have it buffed out and you're good to go.
Check with Drinkwater trailer in Pembroke. They'll take your trailer and go right through the whole thing to bring it up to speed for a fraction of what a new trailer would cost.
Good luck with it.
Can't wait to see it. We can't all be like the macoman you know.
whats up pal,i got a 23 seacraft so i can be as cool as joe damit hahaha. U gota come by sometime and give it a look,Joe told me u knew the boat from the north river, did not look like it got used a lot. Gona put my 200 hdpi on it and enjoy it till i can justify a bigger and newer engine and be as cool as the maco man :)
We need to get up and go fishing. See the fishing section under Blues post to see what we did this past weekend. I lost your number and just remembered I have it here under one of your PM's. We have been pretty busy and I'm sure you two have been busy with a 1 yr old.
I didnt forget ya ..... tomorrow looks like a rain day for us so I will bring a seat to the ups store and find out shipping costs.

Thanks Kenny
