David, I will certainly send Ryan a card first thing in the morning. Is their anything his family needs , what does Ryan like , what would make him smile beside the card ? John.
vic got the daydreamer all done. the decals you sent me look great!!! I may have a deal for you. do you have a windshield on yours? I may have something that would work on yours,as I know you raised the height of your console. may enf up with a brand new one that broke at the lower left side. it could be cut down(height) for a custom look. pm me your phone # and I will text a pic of the decal and windshield if you like. thanks again john butler
Hi Paul, im ok just can't believe I need more surgery is all. Yesterday I found out I need more neck surgery as well as lower back surgery . it just gets harder to push through this crap as I get older,
I didn't see these messages, Gentleman. My sincere apologies, not trying to be stuck-up. If I can help in any way give me a shout out on my cell. I don't answer numbers I don't recognize, so leave a message and I will call you back. Thanks, Vic 863-581-4568
Thanks for the kind comment. I still love the old boat. Yes I did follow the instructions exactly. I had the clear plastic template from Stainless Marine that really made it a breeze. At this moment I have the motor mounted real high to achieve break neck speed..(Cav plate is 3" out of the water when on plane. Low water pickup built into the nosecone on this Mercury allows for good water pressure still) In the beginning... the cav plate was just under the surface of the water when on plane motor on the bracket for the first time. So I raised the motor to the second set of holes and it was perfect. I will get a quick measurement from the keel to the bracket in a minute. I am at work. Shhhhh!
Digin the boat man! hopefully you can help me with a few issues I am having mounting the bracket on the transom. I think we have the same hulls/transom. im mounting a 1989/90 150 mariner with a 25inch shaft. after I mocked up the bracket to the transom I have about 5 inches from the bottom of the transom to the bottom of the bracket. im thinking of dropping the bracket to give room to play with when mounting the motor. did you follow the stainless marine bracket mounting exactly?
thank you for any recommendations you could give to me.
Hey their, I know it's a little late but I am 99 percent sure I have one from a fresh water boat, I'm in ny on Long Island if it helps,

If I send you my Mercruiser 170 engine model & serial numbers, will you tell me what alternator I need or order one for me? I absolutely expect to pay you your profit, overhead and for your time. I'm extremely busy right now and fishing season is starting - I REALLY want to have my boat running for this season.

If the one wire units need higher RPM's to charge, I should probably step up to whatever one works at lower RPM's.

I did some diagnosis using the manual you sent and have a commutator short to ground. I guess the regulator passed the one test I did - I think it was checking for low resistance between the stator wire studs and the alternator case - the resistance was infinite, no reading at all. The epoxy (or whatever it is) regulator filler is cracked and my feeling is to just replace the alternator completely and have a conventional setup. I'll pull the balancer and check for a pinched wire but I doubt that's the problem.
