You’re not gonna believe this……

So when I bought the boat it came with a raymarine dragonfly pro 7. Chart plotter/sonar/fish finder. I guess it works well and the full color display sure is pretty.
Having never owned a marine GPS, I really don’t know how to use it.
So what do I do? I just ordered a chart. Yes, a hard chart. You know the one. The giant laminated chart we learned how navigate on. God only knows where the hell my parallel ruler could be, but I think… with a little time, I could put two(gps) and two (chart) together and re-teach myself how to navigate.
While looking for a reef last week, I couldn’t for the life of me figure out how to input the numbers so the machine could show me where to go. I just headed south out of the inlet and when I saw two dozen boats in a little area… I knew I was there.
So I came across captain seagulls charts and I ordered one up.

I used to know my old garmin like the back of my hand but the new one has been challenging. I know it is just me, but I like to complain even if it is my fault lol.

Loran was awful. Good ridance.

New touch screen plotters are great. If you can't figure anything out, touch where you want to go and Navigate/GoTo, follow the line.

I have a stack of old Seagull charts in my basement...some with Loran lines....

I use to have a humming bird wide eye and it was the best. You press one button and that's all you had to do but that was 20 years ago,now I bought the simplest, easy it's fish finder made and I can't figure it out. I got the very best fish finder,,,,,, look for birds. Done. I don't need or want any of these complicated fish finders. I want my humming bird wide eye back.
