talk about a dilema. i building a deck on a realy nice house on the beach in pass christian. i was just setting here going over some paperwork (aaaarrrrrggghhhh!!!!) when i realized i messed up the price on this project. at my square foot price for this type of deck i should have charged the guy $14806.04 with tax. instead, not syre how, i charged him $23592.60. the guy didnt bat an eye when i gave him the price. he is a very wealthy man (oil man) and this is just one of his vacation homes. he has already signed the contract, made the deposit, and the project is well underway. should finish by the end of the week.
i pride myself on being an honest man. and we all know what the honest thing to do here is. but, we're talkin $8788.56! for me, all for me! i mean, this guy flies into town on his private jet. his watch cost more than my house! he owns one of the, if not the largest oilfield services companies in louisiana. i mean, that little bit of change aint nothin to him. but to me, $8788.56 is a butt load of money.
but, right is right, and wrong is wrong. what do y'all think?

Show him all the material receipts, labor costs,
your profit margin and negotiate.

He may at least cover all the material and labor costs.
If he is an honest person, then he will realize your error and still pay the full amount.

Be up front with the guy, I am sure he has been ripped off in the past and
if you are honest with him, he will most likely appreciate the effort.

rich or poor he deserves the same consideration you would show someone who is not wealthy.

morality does not have an accountant.

do the right thing.

RACER:

DO THE RIGTH THING, TAKE THE $9,000.00 AND DIVIDED IN TWO ($4,500.00) AND GIVE HIM THAT FOR CREDIT.

LESTERUS

I read your post wrong, I thought you under charged.

Anyway, be honest and give him a refund.
Even in our business, we deal with the big three and the big truck makers.

If we overquote tooling and assembly lines,
we only charge the customer for the amount that we used.
If we under quote, we try to negotiate, but sometimes we have to eat the overages.

GIVE HIM 50% OF THE AMOUNT YOU OVERCHARGED HIM,
THAT'LL COVER UP FOR THE TIMES YOU UNDERQUOTE PEOPLE AND HAVE A TO EAT IT.

We'll give you some "hush" money CB to keep it quiet. Can't be lettin the "authorities" (MSBHAMMER and WILLY) hear bout this ;D

yeah pipe. thats the price we agreed on. he signed the contract at that price and made the deposit, 40 percent of said price. i just figured it wrong somehow.

you gotta tell him man, "what comes around goes around"

if i did that and took the money, my car would break down the next day and cost $9000 to fix. :-/

If it were me, I would refund the money... I have a feeling it will come back to many times over. And this guy is in a position be a big part of that..

Do the right thing...refund him the $$.

and if you are makin that kinda loot shut the heck up about your windshields and go buy a new boat for cryin out loud!!! ::)

;)

I have always been told to do ther right thing, :-/ When I was a crok I had everything!!

Then I started living ther right way for the last 15 years, not stole or done anything worng!!

Guess what, I have been screwed ever since!! I can't even keep the boat in the water!!

I don't drink. smoke, smoke pot, drugs not nothing!! I no cheat on the wife anymore nothing!!

And what have I gotten for my trouble, no boat, wife sick with 3 operations and no money!!

I am about to go croked any day!! I would keep the money and repower with a brand new motor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Refigure again! Then give him the new price. Your business will have built a good reputation which will spread. billy Mac ;D

Do the right thing, then you can sleep at night! Plus get a guy like that bragging about the good job you do and how honest you are, your worries will be over! You'll be all the rich folks houses!

Keep the money and tell him how bad he screwed up and you dont care. That way we dont have to worry about you buying a new boat and leaving V20.com with all that new honest bussiness.

Truthfully, Look in the mirror and think how you would like to be treated.

Give him half the money back and tell him you made a donation to the "Turbinedoctor repower project" in his name.
