Went in/out of frwd/rev alright so I think I should be allset.
The only thing that was wierd was, I did not put the electrolis plate back on yet and when I turned off the water it alott of water poored out of that hole. should the lower unit be filling with water?
It also started spitting water right away, no warm up time that is normal with merc/mariner.
Fine, good, finish it. :)

Umm, WHos Dog? I really have no idea of what you are talking about, sorry.
If it is out of time, is that a easy fix that I can do on the water?

The first meantion is on the first page and my first post. I'll try to get pictures of the location of the shifter (dog).

Oh, OK. Does it require the lower unit to come back off :-X
Its the litle gear thing that goes in the back of the lower unit?
ALL I want todo is fish ;D

Nope done erased the photo's.
Remember the splined looking thing toward the front of the foot that is about 5/16 across? It was in the middle but to the front. This is the shift lever mechanism. If you rotated it or moved the control shifter and then assembled the foot to the motor it will be out of time as so far as when you put it in forward, neutral or reverse. Depending on what manufacturer of motor you are working on you may need to remove and install the foot in full reverse or neutral or full forward or one I had you were required to do a combination.
If it goes in and out of gear you did it right.

THanks, I don't think I moved it. It was kind of loose and we had to "fish" it into place why putting the unit on.
I am super stressed know about the hole thing, but in the big picutre it was/is kinda fun doing it/and learning.
I owe you!
OK 1 more thing, is the lower boot suppused to fill up with water?

As far as filling with water it depends on mfr. An old 70hp evinrude I have won't pump good water until I dam off the lower ports. I'm not sure about your motor.

If you didn't use antiseize, BAD DOG NO BISCUIT!
From now until you die whenever you work on a boat, use antiseize.

Put it on all bolt and nut threads and even on the stems of bolts, especially the zinc plate bolts.

This is the 1/2" coupling looking thing that goes to the tube in the powerhead.

I'm so glad that we don't live in the Roman times. I think they were the ones to kill the bearer of bad news. ;D

Chances are your going to be too busy dodgeing other boats this weekend to effectively fish. Man I wouldn't want to be a dolphin or manatee this weekend.
