For any of you guys interested in the history of the V20 I recently read a book entitled The fish is red. Its about the CIA involvement in Cuba. Lots of info about the pre Wellcraft V20s used for clandestine raids into Cuba. Seems that the early hulls were powered by twin 100 hp gray marines.

Throwback - thanks for the post!! I'll have to pick that book up.

The other boat that was used during the invasion was the powercat . . . it's sits side by side with the v20 in that picture.

Thanks, throwback...I'd like to read that...who is author?...

Too bad they couldn't tie Castro off to the bow of that V-20 and them RAM the cat broadsides!!...now that Florida's gettin' full-up, we oughtta take the old fart out and make Cuba the 51st state...it'd be an instant sportsman's destination ;) 8) ...

. . . like it was back in Papa Hemingway's day. ;) Not to mention the nightlife and gambling. Only 90 miles from Key West, but it might as well be on the moon.

I like that idea RAP

The author of The Fish is Red is Warren Hinkle and William Turner. Published by Harper and Row 1981
Aside from the v20s use lots of info about the CIAs war on Cuba and Kennedys role as well as the way the CIA used organized crime to do its bidding.

Thanks Throwback - I just ordered the book from Amazon.
Should be here in a few days. If next weekends Temps in Sacramento cool down to below 100 degrees . . . I'll be reading the book on my boat.

Hey Pipe and phester...let's start sending letters to Washington proposin' 51st state of Cuba ;) ;D ;D ;D

I got some old photos from a trip my mother and girlfriend of hers made to Cuba while Batista was still in power and I know my dad used to regularly go to Havana w/ his friends for gamblin' and nightlife...under new mgmt that place could be a reel "Getaway Destination"...Touristas Americanos would cover it up and leave behind a FLOOD of $$$$$ ;) 8) 8)...

they could leave Gitmo in tact and use for ''drunk-tank'' :o ;D

parishht...so if we don't get Cuba, Ven. will :-/ ...they're already the reason I don't buy Citgo gas...ain't supportin' those bastards!!...thanks for the post... :)...

By the way, I refrain from CITGO as well.

When Hugo Chavez took power in Ven,
he made a speach that not many people in the U.S.
heard.
In that speach he said the U.S. has had cheap oil for too long and it was time to make them (us) pay.
Those words have stayed with me ever since I heard them,
he might as well have stuck a knife in my back.

clandestine raids in v20's? 12cents a gallon? how many v20's do we have here? if there good enough for the CIA, why dont we use ours and invade those bastards. thier military sucks so bad we could stick a marker in our pocket, pretend like it's a gun, and take over the whole country.

thiers a sharpie commercial for ya, million and one uses, right!

"we" never were in cuba, right. O.K. BS is out, lol. now, who wants to help me invade venezula! 12 cents a gallon...WOO HOO!!!! no offense BS but, if i wanted to be surrounded by a bunch of cubans, i would invade miami!
