V-21 Bow Slider

So I have noticed as of late my bow slider has been noticeably harder to slide open. I decided to remove the assy, something I had not done on this V-21 or the 1rst one I owned. There are 4 small oval head screws in each aluminum track securing it to boat. Each track is 62" long and are a C channel profile. The entire assy comes off as one unit. The 2 plastic channels on the underside are secured to the hatch with 2 #6 S/S machine screws with S/S hex nuts. Once both removed I cleaned the "grooved" plastic slider peices (2 each side) these slide through the aluminum C channel. There was a build up of plastic in each groove. After inspecting the aluminum tracks I made the decision to replace them. A quick Google search came up with www.eagle-aluminum.com Loretta Mn. However they do not sell anodized aluminum so I will have to find a shop who can anodize the 2 peices. The chrome plated pull handle as seen better days so another quick Google search netted an exact replacement. Chrome plated brass up in Bayville, N.Y. www.myknobs.com yeah, I know. Funny thing is they are not a marine supplier.

Looking very good. Sometimes you have to look to other places to get what you need. Lowe’s. Home Depot. Ace hardware ( ace hardware is a very good hardware store. And if you ask an employee. They know not like Home Depot , they use to be ok but now? Forget it. And Lowe’s too.
That channel looks like a Bimini top hardware part
AMAZON.

Negative Ghost Rider, not the same channel. You would be surprised at the plethora of C channel out there. Help in ANY store today? Non existent!

Understand now, did not realize the u had a track for the bow piece. Thought it was fixed. Better system than the old cuddys that the teak rails are the tracks and plastic inserts to glide on.

I’ve always wanted to rig some kind of ladder to help hopping on the bow easier. When i got mine 34 years ago, it was a piece of cake, not so much anymore

Yes, two 62" aluminum "C" channel's that secure to each side of the hatch opening with 4 s/s #6 oval head screws each side. My restored 74 V-20 had what you described. You remove the V-21 hatch as one assembly.
