unpleasantness at the boat ramp...........

OOH this is good.....

Ok, so at the big Keyport, NJ Municipal ramp, coming in on my V21 with my son.

One boat ahead of us, guy is trying to power drive his boat up onto his bunk trailer.
Well, he keeps missing, left, then right, and losing his temper.

My son and I are standing on the dock, next to our boat.
I say to my son ( 19) " watch -this is how a grown man should NOT behave"

The guy reverses his boat again and again, each time running and gunning.
He screams at his friend who apparently made a suggestion.
Finally rams his boat onto the trailer, and pulls up.

Lessons for my son:
1. Don't lose control
2. When dealing with a problem....slow down.....take your time, be careful.

Guy last week told me I should use the right side of a ramp because it was available.
( tide running hard - no good )
I said no thanks, I'll wait..........and he walked away angry, muttering, spitting in the street.

Boat ramp on a busy day - lot's of interesting behavior.

We can agree on that one! Oh how I hate Will Ferrel........ would GLADLY give up Sandler if it meant Ferrel would go with him!

Btw Had my own ramp story from the other day... was backing my jetskis between one of thos gofast boats and the dock.. it was just a little tight but not bad... still had a few feet between us but the guy's kid, maybe 19 comes running up yelling STOP STOP... HEY STOP!!! HEY HEY STOP!!!!!..... He was FRANTIC, looking at my trailer and daddy's boat and even started to get a mean tone in his voice... I was in my Jeep with the window down and I just kept slowly backing down the ramp and said "calm down junior, it'll be OK" with a gentle tone...... I got back to the water and got out.... Daddy was looking at me with just a hint of stinkeye, so I said with a smile "I think I scared your boy there, he seemed pretty excited" The whole mood changed and daddy started laughing and said "yeah he got worked up a bit. BTW I'm 6'4" 235 lbs myself... Not golden gloves or anything but not exactly a pushover either...

FYI- I redeemed my points earlier and got 4 brand spanking new radials for the trailer. Thanks Smoke.:zip::laugh::party:
I like Adam Sandler's works- Weding Singer, 50 First Dates, Grown Ups 1 & 2, Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, Mr. Deeds, Just Go WIth It all good, just entertainment and yes some of us are married whereby the CEO gets to watch what she wants every now and then. OR have young children which gives me an excuse to watch those animated movies, Shrek, Puss in Boots, Cars, Planes etc. LOL.

At the small ramp behind Mac's B & Tackle, Newport, NJ ( Belmar )....... a guy parks his car next to the ramp just to watch.

Saw him a few weeks ago and said hello - yup, he was there just to watch the assorted ramp action.

Low tide and guess what....yup, guy back's it down off the edge of the ramp - and all the fuss that goes with getting it back up. Two methods work:
1. take a boat anchor, walk down the dock and drop it down to hook onto part of the trailer.
Then a few guys just lift - the trailer comes up real easy, not so heavy under water.
Driver then pulls forward. Done.
2. The wooden board method.......if you can find one, wedge it under and drive forward to force it up.

I had a few mishaps back when I first started trailering. You can never be too careful.
By the way, I'm 8' tall and weight 475 lbs......since so many on this thread provided their statistics.

Good job Smiley!

There's a nice little flounder hole 100 ft from the boat ramp where I fish. I love to fish there for the entertainment value. I mean every 5 minutes something incredible happens. Guy 1 having a hard time getting on the trailer due to tide, puts boat on the trailer almost sideways and guns the bow into Guy 2's outboard next to him. Guy 2 apparently didn't see that and Guy 1 made sure not to point it out! I've seen it all, and done some of it too.
:hi:

I got your attention there huh? Yes I redeemed my points and got 4 new radials mounted and balanced, I think the Nitrogen fill cost me $325 bucks tho. BTW- My Wisenheimer License expires tomorrow and the word "gullible" is not in the dictionary..

Sounds like you handled it well Charlie. Be careful getting too close and mouthing off too much though. All that street fighting experience doesn't make you bullet proof. You don't know peoples frame of mind, or what drugs they might be on.

And adam sandler sucks, so does will ferrell.
