when i took my stringers out instead of plywood they used 3/4 trim boards as i would call them or 1x10 material and cut to fit the hull what im asking is which is better for the epoxy fiberglass gonna stick to better

ok i went and bought advantech flooring we use in bulding subfloors in houses the acx and cdx plywood looked like some second hand stuff and advantech has some water shedding capabilities since im doing this outside

Mike I'm surprised no replys yet on this one...I'm no expert, but the material you describe may not be the best choice as it doesn't sound ABSORBENT...to get the best strength from core/glass construction, I think it's generally acknowleged the resin needs to soak into the surface just a bit before it sets...water shedding material doesn't sound like it'll do that...

all the acx i have looked at has been wavy and delaminating but since i havent bought nothing yet cause of the rain here today ill keep looking and hoping they get some new stuff in

ACX Fir plywood is good . True Marine Plywood such as Marine Tech is Fir with fewer voids and they throw the glue to it, it has B-grade inner plies. The Marine Tech is more pricey than the standard ACX Fir. The choice depends on your wallet. There are other choices but I would stay away from engineered wood products like OSB or paralam beams. They have their place but plywood is proven to work.

If you're not going for true marine grade plywood, which has no voids and made with waterproof glue, the ACX is the closest thing...but it has voids in it which can be a long term problem.....you can buy 3/4 inch XL marine ply from Boat Builder Central for like $60+....Meranti type high end stuff is over $100...even a good quality ACX is close to $40, if you can find a good quality panel.....is the 20 or 30 buck difference from a true marine ply worth it when you look at the entire scope of the project? I agree with what was mentioned above....stay away from engineered building materials like OSB or LAM...good for houses...not for boats

Aruaco acx plywood

Mike the ARUACO ACX 3/4 plwood at Lowes is some of the nicest looking plywood I have seen in a long time. There has not been one void that i have seen in the plywood since I started my project and I have ripped and cut 4 sheets already. Its 32.00 dollars a sheet at Lowes. All Lowes in our area sells it. I am very surprised the Lowes Aruaco ACX is as bad as what you have said unless your looking at different type of ACX.

acx

the acx i looked at was 41 dollars and the edges were smashed up i only looked at two lowes which one did you go to i know whwere all of them are

Try a cabinet shop or a regular lumber yard/building supply house, they purchase plywood from distributors that carry ACX FIR and Marine Grade Plywood. They aren't real busy right now, might find a dealer willing to sell you a few sheets on the cheap. If you were closer I could set you up with the Marine Tech PTP KDAT for around $60.00/sheet. ACX FIR is running us $33.53/sheet if I buy a few pieces. ABX Marine Plywood from Plum Creek is $76.32. Marine Tech is cheap because I purchased many moons ago and plywood has been trending up as a commodity. Richie Rich has a point, in the long run what is an extra $100 gonna mean. Lots of ways to go, Aruaco plywood is good stuff too.

Update, ACX Auroco Mill just burned and the prices will be going up tremendously. A tidbit of info I did not have this morning.
