True Nightmare

Yeah ........... guess that's why Cheney won't release the notes from his energy meetings which included the oil industry ........... that was before Enron almost bankrupted California wasn't it ........... and the home energy is sooooo much more expensive ........ as far as oil ..... the fact is that the oil companies own everything from alot of the wells to the refining to the gas stations ............ I'm old enough to remember when the gas crises hit and gas went from 30 cents to over a dollar ......... how the oil companies said it wasn't their fault and brought in experts to say that the earth was running out of oil etc etc etc .......... please don't tell me that when their profits are greater than any other company at anytime in the world ............ if you believe the above then I bet the easter bunny will be real good to you tooo ......

Well if your going to bash the guy get the facts right. The scandle involving Enron took place from around 1995 to late 2000 as they cooked the books to make it look like everything was just fine with the company. Then in 2000/2001 the sh%^ hit the fan and the company went bankrupt. So if your going to but that on any pres. it has to be Clinton because Bush took office in 2001 after the Co. had allready cooked its books.

that is true, the sarbanes oxley act was passed into law during bush's presidency. the act now makes top officials in a company liable for their actions.

I was one of the three people that voted for Ron Paul in the Georgia Primary. Some say I threw my vote away, but to me voting for the lesser of two evils the last few elections threw away a lot more.

I voted for RP down here in SC too...tired of govt as usual and wanted to shake things up...he seems to be neither Dem nor Rep...just what we need...someone w/some INDEPENDENT thinking for a change who doesn't have his (or her) nose way up some lobbyist's bung-hole...as long as the majority continues to follow the two party system, we'll be slaughtered like a flock of sheep ... these bastids don't go to Washington to govern...they go to make as much money as they can squeeze outta the system any way they can squeeze it ... and we just sit back and watch 'em do it and do nothing about it, so we're gettin' what we're askin' for ... I don't want the gov't to do a damm thing for me except get outta my way, get outta my life and get outta my pocket, and one way or another Reps and Dems do a whole lot of all THREE ... because that's what they're in BUSINESS to do ... spendin' time standin' on one sideline or the other, cheerin' on either of the party favorites is like rootin' for the rapist or the robber...do ya wanta be raped or robbed??...cause w/either, yer gonna get one or the other...

If we'll all take our heads outta the sands of partisan politics and start thinkin, and votin' for ourselves, we can get control of our lives and this country back in our own hands instead of givin' it up to a bunch of lilly-livered con-artists posin' as govt leaders and their lobbyist handlers...

Well...that's probably enough for now...:time:

Reel,

I couldn't agree with you more. Unfortuantely people do not spend the time to understand what each candidate is about they vote based upon old party ideals that do not mean anything anymore. Poltician change their viewpoint at the drop of a hat to suit the environment, there is no conviction. RP is a libertarian which is where I stand (less government more privatization) but unfortuantely i believe voting for him may allow Clinton to move in. A health care system run by the government would be the worst thing that ever happened to this country. The crooks would eat it up and no one would be satisfied.

FOR us who have never met or seen you I'm guess that was your face on the male stripper. You did a good job dancin but then we know Hillary was faking because she's the biggest LESBIAN on the face of this earth.

:hide: Her lapping anything that doesn't have a 3rd leg .

:head::head::head:

I just wish that all these candidates would anounce their
cabinets up front.
That way we could see who is buttering their bread.

I think that would sway people alot.

im not a huge fan of the pres either but when somone says that it cant be any worse than the one we have now. can someone be state reasons?

Bill Clinton dies and goes to Heaven (yes Heaven)

Saint Peter meets him at the gate and tells him he has a choice of either Heaven or Hell

Bill asks if he can see what both are like before he makes his decision.
Peter says why sure which one would you like to visit first?

Bill chooses Hell!

Down the elevator they go, when the door opens the scene is much like Agusta National. All his congressional buddys are there smiling with drinks in their hands. He even meets the devil who asks him if he'd like to play 9 holes. Bill looks at Peter who nods his approval. At the ninth green Peter meets Bills and says its time to visit heaven.

Up they go when the door opens they are in the sky. People sitting on clouds, a harpist is playing. Peter asks where would you like to spend eternity. Bills chooses Hell.

Down he goes this time when the door opens he is greeted by the devil in a firery hole all his friends are there in pain and agony. Bill says this isn't where I visited before!

His friends and Satan answer all together Oh that! We were just campaigning!!

My vote counts?

If you live in Mississippi, as I do, you may as well stay home. Most of the candidates have already dropped out and the primary here isn't for several weeks yet. Why is this? Because Mississippi is one of the few states that didn't move their primary back into February or, in some cases, January. This whole election was co-opted from the start whenever they started jacking the primary dates all around. Hell, that started last summer!

If the primary were tomorrow, which it isn't, I would have only John McCain to vote for on the Republican side and Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama to choose from for the Democrats, with an oddball write-in or two thrown in for those few who actually do their homework and want to vote for someone they truly believe is better. And, to make things worse, the primary is the ONLY opportunity any of us get to directly vote for a Presidential candidate.

As you may remember from past elections, from here it goes to the conventions and then there will be two absolute candidates that will get all of the Media attention, while the likes of Ron Paul are left to depend on the kindness of strangers and good word of mouth to mount a campaign against the big two. No third party candidate has successfully done so in recent history. The third party candidate is, at best, reduced to the role of spoiler (see Ross Perot) where he will drag down one or another of the candidates but never get enough votes to win in his own right.

Anyway, ultimately the electoral college decides it with their votes, not the votes of the American people (see Bush v Gore, 2000 which, in that case was actually decided by the Supreme Court, but hey, who's counting?).
