Trailer Walk-board mod...

Me and Turbo were talking about trailer walk boards so I snapped a few pics and figured I'd post how we do it on the 'shore.  Mostly roller trailers around here and we try to back them in so that the hubs/brakes don't get wet.  I've got a string from the power winch to the end of the trailer that lets me run the winch from the end.  The board is a treated 2x10 that held to the frame with ubolts.

On mine, the board may be a 2x8, I can't remember now.  Anyhow, keeps from getting cold wet feet whilst chasing big rocks, bass for you yankees, in cold weather.

Cy, thats a whole 'nother story. MD wants to whack ya for $180 for two year tag. Maine five year w/ no inspection was $50 or so. You can even do it online.

That looks good!!

I was just saying the other day to a friend that I had one on the old trailer but never did it to the new trailer??

I guess I have not used in much the last 2 seasons and kind have forgotten about it!

I drive on a a few places I go but thwere are some places that don't allow it, and I need a board.

I don't need to go as far back as you did, but I do need to make that curve in the front.

Drive mine on....the way it sits there is no way to get it on without dunking and noway in hell Im gonna winch it.

I have a hard time winchin it the last couple inches. It seems I bend a winch every year trying. ???

I had some on my little boat though and it was great!! 8)

MJ, what do you mean "dont allow it"....WTH is that all about? :P

Depends were I go, they no allow and power loading!! I had a guy come running going to bad me from the ramp!!
Then I did it again, no power just got it going and he come running again, I said its not even on!! It is just coasting on!!

This is the deal with the crapy ramps cause they don't want you to wash out the bottom of the ramp.

Rules I hate them!!

Hammer, I'm sorry that I never got to it. Tell ya what I'll do. Me and Turbo will pick up Cy on the way and I'll buy the coffee and donuts on a slow day this winter and we'll BS about V's for an afternoon. I'd say we'd go to Irish Eyes, but I gots to drive home ya know ;D

Hey Air: Aint we suppose to intice him down here with doughnuts and coffee. Sounds like a nice guys day away. Where is CY located?

I dont have pics yet but I installed the boards on the front V of my trailer. That gives me enough room to hook up the cable with boat floating at rear rollers.

Mine is 2 X 8 salt treat but I added traction tape to mine. Its $2 a foot at Youngs Old Shop, So you might be able to get it at Lowes for about 50 cents a foot. LOL

Nice looking Deere you got. I got one for fathers day 05' "LT150". Now the wife and kids want to fight over who mows the lawn.

Heres a question for ya. Is it a lawn Mower or a Grass cutter?

Turbo

Turbo, Cy is in OC and Hammer is in Lewes/Rehobeth area. Mine is just an L120 or L130, cant remember. It's definately a lawn mower. We got the reel and real mowers here at work. Grass cutter, thats what you see the highway crews usning. :)

Airslot,
who is particular 'bout his grass

I just uploaded pics of my walking boards. I could not make up my mind which side I would normally walk on so I put them on both.

Turbo, that don't look too bad. If I can work it out schedule wise, I'll be there. Ain't nthin my grinder can't handle...

You doin bolts & Springs?

Airslot

Turb, nice looking walk boards!! I will be doing mine also!

------------------------------------------------------------------
A grinder will make short work of them bolts!!

Thats a easy job!! Just cut all!!

Put boat on Jack Stands, remove tires, grind 4 U bolts, and 4 bolts on springs.

Remove all, replace all with new, put tires back on and you good to go!!

Heck while the tires are off remove the hubs and inspect, replace or clean and regrease.

Can never go wrong with cleaning and repacking berrins!!

I got a 4.5"angle grinder with cut off wheels that works great. I already have the new springs, bolts, bushings and square bent bolts for the springs and other roller assembly holders. $250 for all that but I dont want to have to go through this again.

AIR here in virginia we can get permanent plates for $50 and no inspection. What kind of trim tabs do you have and how do you like them.

Tabs are bennett M-120's and they are simply great.  We lived in VA and yep, permanent trailer tags but, personal property on and vehicles and boats is a killer.

Turbo, got a place you can leave the boat in the water for the day.  Dump her overboard then work on the trailer...makes it sooo much easier.

yeah, when the off season gets here I'll take it down to the creek at high tide and tie it up at my cousins dock. I can leave it there a couple of days if needed. The creek here is in bad shape and I can only put over during high tide.

The side-grinder'll get 'em, nodoubt, but my buddy brought his Porta-Band when he helped me change out my U-Bolts...if ya can get one of those, they're the bee's knees... 8) ...

I have acess to a porta band but I think it would be harder to get into tight places.

What the heck is "bee's knees". Is that some kind of yankee term I'm not formilar with?

Thats not Yankee, thats south of the Mason Dixon, where they think bees have knees, and toes and tell their kids bedtime stories ;D
