I took her out of the water today and washed / cleaned her up to start her 2nd season of the year.

I'll have her ready to start striper fishing at Rudee Inlet and Oregon Inlet starting Monday.

I was going to take pics but I got so involved washing/cleaning and just petting her I lost all track of time. Next thing I know it was dark and the wife came home and I had to put her in the garage.

I'll start making lures this weekend and hit the water next week.
 
Already started out of Rudee Inlet, that's why I'm thinking of going Monday.

Some of the fishing forum's in this area are already reporting 30+lb and larger fish being caught out of Rudee.

They caught some nice fish at Oregon Inlet this week also.

When do you and Reel want to go?

I'm making up some new lures this weekend.

My friend I want to go yesterday, but with my new position I started in august I am working like a crazy man. Cannot get away anywhere for more than a day or so now.
 
I know what you mean Willy. I want to go the day before yesterday.

My fishing buddies and I are having some setbacks as of late so its not looking good for us planning a trip any time soon.

Lee what kind of lures are you making or is it your super secret ones?

2 parachute rigs are pulled at 3ft and 6ft approx with each one I use 2 single hooks laced into the rubber tail. I fish them 75-125ft back.

I fish different colors on each one but change the colors from front to back on each rod, so I can get a handle on what color they want.

I have really good luck with a bait from Yakima baits called a sea tiger bunker (bun) at 2oz (dives to 30ft) and 5oz (dives to 30-50ft).

I fish the smaller in the prop wake about 50 - 75 ft back of the transom and the larger 1 at about 100-125ft back.

These guys catch approx 65% of the fish. I use a smaller rod here because it seems the smaller fish are more curious than the larger ones so they will come up to see what all the fuss is about and then they see the lures and go after them. Now that's not saying you wont catch larger fish; I have caught 3 50+lb fish on these 2 rods.

Fishing tip: I tie dental floss to my lines at the desired feet I want the lines behind the boat then every time I go I just set that rod out until the floss is out of the rod tip.

The only thing to remember is you pretty much have to use that rod in that same rod holder each time but once you get use to that it makes it great for setting the rods out and especially if you have to turn quickly it cuts down on getting tangled.

Just starting striper season? I'm jealous! We got our first snow fall this weekend. It must be nice to be southern guys.
 
This should have been in the fishing threads, or at least have a disclaimer in the title like:

"Contains Current Fishing Discussions: NOT intended for Northerners"

I assumed it was another story about the heartbreak of winterizing your boat.:cry:

...don't think joining this group is going to make spring come any sooner.

But hey, in only 14 days, the days will be getting longer!:sun:
