Thru Hull transducer

Well CB came over today and we got the new transducer in, and I think it is safe to say we will never do another one!!!!!!!!!!!:cen:

No pictures as we were covered, and I mean covered in black 5200!! Hair, ears, eyes, arms, legs what a :cen: nightmare!!

All the money you pay for that stuff and they no can even give you a cheap wrench to do it with!

Well its in and I hope it doesn't leak! Used 1/2 a gal of xylene to get us cleaned up!

:oh:

Unless you have very good access, and I mean very good as in easy to reach with both arms, this is one job that I would gladly pay someone to do. You would think that Arimar would make the outside flange of this unit with a couple of recessed holes in order to place a spanner wrench on from underneath. Instead, I had to get both arms into a deck inspection plate with two wrenches. One to keep the transducer from rotating, and the other to tighten the large bronze nut. Couldn't do it. Mj was able to grab enough of the flange from the outside with large waterpump pliers while I tightened the nut inside.
MJ is right. It looks like someone set of a black 5200 pipe bomb in there. :oh:

I'm tired already, now I have to get ready for a 12 hour shift at work tonight. :cen:

I am not going over there for a few days!!! I am not getting near anything till that 5200 is dry! Its all over the place!!

By the way did you get the bilge pump back in??

I know what you mean...I installed my furuno 525 T-BSC and it was no easy task but what a difference in sounding from my old plastic transom mount unit. It's all worth it.

I have a Furuno 620 color fish finder, with a Airamar with a tilted thru hull, total cost for all $900+ Transducer was well over $200.

i feel your pain, i just helped a friend change a thru-hull on a a 38 sport fisher that had a 3208 cat on top of where the transducer was. we also had to get the old one out. he had a flange wrench that was like a cresent with square jaws that worked fairly well.

Do the shoot thru hull ones not perform all that well on the screen type fishfinders?
The digital depthfinder I have has a shoot thru mounted in the bow, even with the thickness of the V it works. But I'm only using depth, not to show structure or fish.
