The 21 Takes a Back Seat

Maybe this should be in Off-Topic, but to me the topic is to boat or not, so here goes...

The 21 has recently been mothballed as my partner and I have signed a lease to buy on a small restaurant we'll open soon as a BBQ place...

We've got a guy can cook some of the BEST ribs, pulled pork, etc., etc., etc. I ever had who'll be the pit-man...the building, seen in the background above looks like a red barn, so we named it...

It's located in Cowpens about 6 miles from my house and we've got the whole town abuzz about our opening...

Excited about it, but the 21'll bee sittin for a while to come...
 
Wow and Congrats!! I guess I know were the next V20 get toghter will be!!

Not the best of times for this, but if the food is good, and price is right they will come!!

I just want to know what is the other stuff?? :head:

I've already done my Florida trip for this year, but you can count on me stopping by next year as I go through SC... I LOVE good ribs!!! :clap:

Thanks guys!!...we'll open mid to late July...tried to shoot for July 4th, but found out no way Jose!!...decided better to open when READY than before and shoot ourselves in the foot...

Hey Spare...mustard, mild red and hot red...we'll be workin on a vinegar cause I gotta feelin that's what you like...what I really wanna do is a BBQ that nobody WANTS sauce on...but that's a pretty LOFTY goal cause peeps LOVES they sauces!!... :love:

BBQ without sauce is heavenly. Sauce just masks the true flavor. I'll take a bucket of ribs without sauce any day :clap:
 
WOW Reel, running a Q joint has always been a dream of mine. I'm jealous!

You know what would go really good with that Q? Some of Blue Runner's famous Roasted Corn. Silver Queen/King, roasted in the shuck, then peeled back and lathered with as much butter as it'll hold.

If you ever need a corn roaster lemme know. People eat that stuff like desert! And it would go damn good with the red barn! I have a feeling as soon as they lay me off here I'm gonna be roasting more corn than I care to roast!

I love idea, the building, the signage and most of all your guts and determination to make it happen. Good for you and best of luck!

Hey Reel, forgot to mention. I grew up eating at a place not too far from here called the Red Barn. It was a fish camp though. We used to hit it every weekend. Fond memories!
 
Congrats Reel I just saw the post, been out of touch lately with the site.

Hope your place does well, I'll have to grab the main muff put 1 of my V shirts on her and head your way. I love Q I've had mustard sauce before and it was good, I grew up on vinegar sauce. I've started making red meat BBQ lately and I like it as good as pork BBQ.

Keep us posted when you open and we'll come down.

P.S. I think the reason Reel didn't post the address is he doesn't want the site to show up with V shirts and he has to explain to his partner the "slip of the tongue" deal he made and why they have a restaurant full of V shirted people and how the meals are FREE.

I forgot what I've been missing back home in SC. Been living here in Mississippi so long I almost forgot what real corn is! You just can't find that corn when you cross the state line. What kinda sauce for the BBQ? I grew up in the lowcountry and grew fond of the yellow, mustard base sauce. MMmmmmmm!! Will check you out on my next trip back.
