Anyone have any ideas on a tackle station for the v. i'd love to put it through the cabin wall but i have an 89, it has the sliding glass cabin door, any idea's would be appreciated

I don't have a cuddy, but I used Starboard to make a box and faceplate. It is large and deep enough that I can stack three of the Plano plastic organizers inside. It also houses the stereo/amp and a cig light/map light. Switchco makes some good/cheap plastic latches I found online and I used piano hinge on the doors. I needed to finish the edges on the back of the console but decided to cover up using the faceplate as trim. If you have the room they make the drop in style tackle tray holders in several sizes. I will try to get a better picture. Starboard aint cheap.

Ridge that is sweet!!!!! You've gotten my mind a click'n now!!!!!

Wow Ridge that is an awesome job, looks great ! i just dont have that option with the cuddy. I was thinking of building one behind my pedistal seat. problem with that is i like to spin the seat around and sit while i anchor in the rips for Bass. I'm thinking my only option is to remove the pedistal and build a combo tackle station and storage box, this way i can still spin the seat and have a place for my feet. i'll start higher at the seat area and then step it down at the tackle station. thats how it was built on my wellcraft coastal 236. That Starboard is just so expensive. I have a sheet of Azek but i just dont think it's ridgid enough

I was thinkin' the same thing...you might wanna (and then you might not)think about building a wooden box and upholstering w/white vinyl...then install a tackle drawer into side of that....saves on starboard...

Absolutely, vinyl covered wood is a good option. I suggest PT :sun: Gratuitous Plug !! I got a steal on the Starboard back in 2007.

I instantly thought of the tackle trays, not realizing exactly what wellcraftv20step was referring to. I got you now. I still need to make some tool holders and under gunnel rod holders for the V. It is kinda plain jane at the moment and without storage for gaff, deck brush, dive flag etc.

The pictures. It is a big glovebox 18" deep. The right hand side could not be as deep due to rigging so I made it a place for wire access and terminator blocks.

The lower section is removable to gain access to the batteries. The time it took to make the faceplate was near 40 hours. Knowing that one mistake with hand tools and it goes to the scrap pile. The doors are 1/2" and the faceplate is 3/4" with a 1/4" lip recess to catch the door. Someone with a 3 axis CNC router could program the computer and be done in a couple minutes. Man I gotta clean the V. Not up to LS standards.

nice ridge, i guess i'mgonna bite the bullet and build with starboard. wish i could find some cheap.

One thing to consider is 1/4" starboard is much cheaper than 1/2 and 3/4...if you can design it so your 3/4" usage makes it STRUCTURALLY sound, you may be able to get by w/some 1/4" facing...

Lookin' pretty dang SKIPPY there Ridge...I shoulda looked closer last time I was aboard that beauty!!...

Wow Vic! I don't know what else to say, except wow. That looks awsome. I never really noticed that when we saw your boat. Truely professional quality.

Yep that was the best thing on that boat!! CB and I did it and it was great! I wish I had it on the Sea ox!!

Thanks for the compliments.
Love that cabinet MJ. That is exactly what I wanted. I still don't have the space to store lead. I keep the excess in a 1 gallon plastic bucket and store it below deck.(Not the most handy place)

I was thinking about making something to hold rigs, out of the box. I like to keep some wire handy, a couple plugs and extra hooks, swivels and weight. I purchased a leader dispenser with suction cups that does well for keeping the spools on deck and at the ready. A boat is never finished.

tackle

Thats a great box, very functional, now i'm thinking about removing the back to back seat base and building a new one out of starboard with the tackle unit built in the rear half.

in the sea ox i got the idea of using pvc tubes with screw on covers, i put a number on each to say what size is in it, they work great and i can carry plenty! i have the tubes in a milk crate and just take out what i need, kept all nice and neat and sizes separate.

And who's idea was that one? :hi:

Same basic idea on my 18..LOVE it. i never have to worry about bringing tackle and tripping over it in the floor. My "box" is and old fiberglass box I found in some junk piles. Painted and used it for the inside to save some $$ on starboard.
