Well, I went ahead and sold my ailing '89 Mercury 150 BlackMax. I'm going to pull the trigger on something but I'm trying to do my research first. So far, it's coming down to two choices. That '94 Johnson 175 OceanRunner I mentioned in my other thread or the DF 140. Some data points I have so far:

1. OceanRunner supposedly has around 300 hrs and the cost is $2700 installed/rigged.

2. New DF140
- 2009 is a little less than $12k installed/rigged.
- 2007 (NOS) for $10,200 shipped to San Diego including rigging equipment. Installed/rigged
by local dealer is approx $1k which would put the total at around $11200.

Anyone know the difference between the DF140 in '07 vs '08 vs '09? Both the '09 and '07 will have the 6yr warranty.

Thanks,

Rey

you can buy alot of fuel and oil for the price difference. but for 600-700 more i would go with the 09

Could you explain a little more why you would go for the '09? Is there's a big difference in the mechanical design with the '09 or is it just cosmetic?

for around $600 you get 09 resale and current value. Theres probably nothing wrong with the 07, but the second you stick the key in it and crank it up, its now an 07 used motor, rather than the new motor you just bought. I know you can't get one frpom Ed's marine, but man, he's got the price blown away, he's listing the 140 at $8550(plus rigging, prop, controlls etc.)

Yeah, it's a shame that Ed can't ship as I visit that website often. I'm thinking he takes a hit on the motor but makes up for it on other things. The local Suzuki dealer here says he's part of a group that make their purchases, so he's not just one dealer buying.

Just heard from the guy selling the '94 Johnson 175 OceanRunner...he's willing to sell/install/rig it for $2500....hmmm

I know that Ocean Runner's tempting..but there's nothing like hittin' that key on a new one and the gas you'll save over the next several years will be sweet and who knows what gas prices are gonna do :head:

I highly recommend the DF 140....best motta I have ever owned, and I would bet that it will last forever.

As for differences, I think they are the same as my 2003, except for the paint of course, but I am not sure cause I haven't been looking at new motors since I got mine in 03.

I got a 20, but wish I'd got a 25.

I bought the motor several years before I got the V, I had it on an old Starcraft aluminum boat to start with.

Get a 25" and use a jack plate to mount it.

I am "DROOLING" about a Suzuki 4-Stroke.
Last weekend at was at the gathering, and I noticed next to us was a 20 something footer with two DF250`s. Later, I see her crew lifting the anchors to leave, I got some 20 feet close to the motors, and I saw water coming out of the cooling water drains, BUT I COULD NOT HEAR OR SEE THE MOTORS MOVING AT ALL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No smoke, no sound, no vibrations or NOTHING !!!!!!! Simply magical !!!!! And they were 250`s !!!!
I had a couple of Suzuki bikes, and they are simply unbreakable, Suzuki products are very long lasting and reliable. GO WITH THE DF MAN, and send me a photo for motivation and raising my self esteem. I will get a DF someday, I am just trying to sell the Yami first but 2-strokers are hard to sell this days.
