Sunglasses

Last pair of hi-dollar shades I owned have been on the bottom of Lake Moultrie for 20 some-odd years now...as I watched them descend outta sight (winter or I woulda dived in after 'em) , I swore that'd be the last big-buck pair...

There you go HAMMER, you could go for a lake dive and get some free sunglasses.

got me the Maui Jims as well, the Typhoon, in a grey smoke polarized lens, ultra light, they've taken a "mild" beating but still look new. The spring loaded option is great, they never fall off your nose. Had em for close to ten years now......and saying all this they'll probably get lost or broken this weekend :-/ Think they were close to 175.00

The Pubah only wears Costa Del Mars, I lost an expensive pair of sunglasses Trolling over the rockpile outside of Hatteras Inlet many summers ago. The yfell off my head as I was reaching over the gunnel while washing my hands after putin a yellowfin tuna in the boat. I almost went over the side after them until my buddy pointed out the 8' hammerhead comin' round the transom. For many years I only had cheapo glasses, swore I would never pay the big bucks again. Well low and behold, I bought the new boat down here in bright old Florida, and the wifey springs for a pair of Costa Del Mars for our anniversary! Sez I look handsome in them she does, thats why she is the CEO, she knows whats going on! around here!! Well, I'll never wear cheapos again, and I don't mind paying for a good leash for them either.

i dont sight fish...all i use polorized sunglasses is for basic glare reduction...there is no reason for me to justify $200-300 sunglasses when they can be broke or lost so easy.

After I posted this thread and was waiting for replies I started looking around the net and came across the Costa Del Mars, did a lot of research into the different coatings and features of them and on polarization in general.

I came to the conclusion that if I were to ever get the nerve to but a high end pair it would be Costa Del Mar. They sure look like some nice glasses but I have a hard time justifing the cost.

Good points everyone, i work outside in florida every day all year long, i need good glasses. i always wore foster grant richard petty style fishing glasses from the time i was 15 untill 35. like you guys i was too rough on them to invest in good ones. a guy on the crew had some costa's and he let me try them, man what a difference. i went to the tackle store to get a pair. the clerck talked me into Ocean Waves. i was very happy with them & the service for about 12 years. i've sent them back 3 or 4 times , always free replacement in a timely manner. then about four years ago something happened to the company and and the service & product is horrible. i currently have a pair of typhoons from west marine($28.) and am saving for costa's.

I go for new glasses next week so I will wait till i get something to see what will fit!

a warning to those who opt for the cheaper sunglasses.

sunglasses cause your pupils to enlarge.
if the shades you wear are not uv a,b & c proof, your enlarged pupils will allow more harmful ultra violet rays to enter.
you may be more comfortable but you will end up doing more damage in the long run.
it is actually better for your eyes if you dont wear anything at all, as opposed to cheap sunglasses.

take heed.
i know from where i speak.
