Stringer and transom issues

Hello everyone, I've not logged on in a long time as I have been out of pocket due to work. I'm now back in the market looking for a another V-20. There is a 1994 or 1996 can't remember exactly the year, close by that I am interested in but I have a question that concerns me. There were various '70s and '80s models that I have looked at also however, they had water intrusion in the transom or problems with the stringers needing to be replaced. I was told that was a quirk of the Vs in those years. The guys that told me this could have been just talking and had no real knowledge of the V-20s. Are the V-20 models of the '90s built the same as the earlier models or was there some improvement that helped to eliminate these supposed transom and stringer problems?
I'm getting rid of my 1984 BW Montauk 17' that is having the flooring professionally replaced with extensive restoration work to be completed shortly. I would like to get the V-20 in place by September so I can be ready for some fall fishing.
I appreciate any help you fellows can give on my question.

They were all built the same way, glass over plywood. Depending on how they were treated they can be great or crap. That is a quirk of every boat built with plywood....or glass over foam for that matter.

Trailer queens under trees for years can be ugly. Blocked drains and standing water equal rotten plywood.
late 80s &90s versions had foam in voids which can saturate under that condition.

20 or 30 years of transducer screws in transoms, screws in the deck....

All that being said, they are great boats when taken care of. Good Luck and lets see some pictures when you get it.

Thanks for the reply SkunkBoat, I suspected that was going to be the answer. I had 1983 V-20 I/O in 2007/08 and it was as solid as a rock so I really had no negative experience to speak of or to reference against. Copy that on the photos. Will be going to take a closer look at the '96 on Monday afternoon. Again thanks for the help.
