Stolen Rod #@*&!

Last week I heard a car running in my shop at work, went out back to see which crew had showed up and what they were grabbing. Behold this massive zombie and his trailer trash girl loading up a generator into his Cherokee. I say "put that down!" and they take off in the jeep, I chase them ou tthe gate.

I got the license plate #. Call the cops, business across the street has it all on tape. Cops come they say plate matches vehicle, have an address, and car owner is a frequent guest downtown. They bring me a photo lineup but they all were great big zombies to me so I picked one.

Next day the guy shows up at a pawn shop where my guys are doing some work on the parking lot. Same guy that had followed one of my guys to the shop the day prior who was bringing the generator back. My guys call the cops, cops swarm in and call me. Say "we need you here to identify now." I'm 15 minutes away. GET THIS, THEY CAN"T HOLD THEM (black guy, white girl, in same vehical with same tag) THAT LONG WITHOUT CAUSE!!!

I get there in 7 minutes, make the ID, they arrest them both.

Moral of the story is, without incredible stupidity on the crooks part, crime pays and the system doesn't care.

Now for the tough part....I thought it was one of my new $1500 generators, turns out its one of the new $500 generators. Police report says $1500 and without correction this is now a felony rather than a misdemeanor.

I'm just going to let the courts work out the value of the generator.

Sorry for your loss MJ

In the brocton emtyprise there's an "FISH CASTING ROD" for sale, says 8ft w/PENN Spinfisher reel and line...$35. I will PM you with the number.

Well MJ I know how you feel. On a recent business trip to Asheville, NC, I was at a Hampton in in a very nice area and someone broke into my rental car and stole my personal GPS that my sons bought me for my B-day about 5 years ago.

It was an older unit, so I was upset, but I knew making a police report and claiming insurance would not pay off, so I just let the hotel know about it so they could be aware and maybe increase their security watches.

I put this under live and learn and on my way home I was sitting in the airport, next thing I got a call from the hotel, they were looking at their security cameras and saw something strange, they were actually looking for something else, but saw two people going car to car. The hotel called the police and the suspects were IDed immediately and they were picked up. :pic:

The next phone call I received was the local police and we went through my GPS and cords, all recovered and returned.
