Still Here

HAMMER, I just did my PA taxes and they have this new tax question.

If you make a major purchase in another state and don't pay taxes on said purchase,
then you have to pay the Pennsylvania use tax on said purchase.

For example, you go across the state line to Delaware and buy a flat screen TV,
then bring it to PA to use in your home. Delaware does not charge sales tax,
so the TV is cheaper. PA is going to charge use tax.
I guess our state is going to set up chack points on all roads and in airports to make sure
that all the use tax is collected. (Is that your new job?)

Anyway, the explanation on the PA website says this is to level the playing field and give PA merchants
a chance to sell items.

Oh yeah, if you make internet purchases and didn't pay tax, you have to report that as well.

Welcome to PA HAMMER - LAND OF TAXES

You Yankee's are way behind, NC has been doing that for years. And for the record, I buy NOTHING out of state.
