Hello friends, romans, V20men. I quoted some "Seaboard" which is the same as starboard today from a guy in VA, his response is below. Does this sound reasonable?

Hi Shane,
Your new prices are as follows
1 sheet 54" x 96" x 3/4" thick white seaboard $235.00
1 sheet 54" x 96" x 1/2" thick white seaboard $145.00
=======
total for the materials $380.00
Wilson Trucking Del charge $ 72.50
=======
Grand Total with the shipping to you $452.50

I hope that this works for you, we can ship it out the following day.

Thanks and Good Luck Howard

Forgot to mention, for a little less than the price quoted above for the whole sheets, they will cut and deliver the following to me:

1/2 inch - 2 pieces, both with the following measurement:

67" X 20"

3/4 inch - 5 pieces, with the following measurements:

1 - 21 3/8" X 33 1/2"
1 - 24 3/8" X 18 1/2"
2 - 31 1/2" X 18 1/2"
1 - 32" X 16"

Total of 7 pieces.
What would YOU do??????????????????????????????

well its still cheaper the Starboard.

I like the hole sheet!! You may need a long piece and you will not get it if you have all short pieces??

Try this guy and ask if he ships and what it would be? But if it was me, I would go for the full sheets!

IIRC, Norva plastics has good prices. His eBay auctions are better deals, but he doesn't always have stuff for sale. When he does, it's a bunch of stuff. Anyway, if you're saving 30+% over retail at BoatersWorld/West/BoatUS, you can't go wrong. If you're sure of the pieces you need after measuring three times ;) I would let them cut it. It's cheaper to ship in smaller pieces and it'll be easier for you to handle once you have it. If you're designing things in-the-field, then to be safe I'd get whole sheets like MJ said.

FWIW...YMMV

MJ, I tried the "Contact Us" thing twice and it didn't appear to work - haven't gotten a response.

I think I'm going to go with the co in VA. I'm going to let them cut it to size, but not before going home and measuring again to be sure! ;)

Then, all I'll need to do is router some edges and install! Makes my life easier and gets me out to the hungry fish that much faster!

Would be nice to have whole sheets though :'(

Thanks for the input fellas.

I used to live about 20 miles from Norva Plastics...did a lot of business with them and I can say without reservation that if at all posible I will do business with them exclusivly...super nice and super helpfull people...if what you need is small enough they will just give it to you.

I like Chesapeake's suggestion of measurin' 3 times B4 orderin' custom cut parts... :)...AND remember, that plastic WILL EXPAND when hot summer-time gets here, so leave some ''wiggle-room'' ;)

We just bought some full sheets of 1/2" Starboard $150.00, your price is good.  Full sheets is the best because of less waste.  Having it cut has its pluses too - lower shipping cost easier handling and storage and they've saved you some work.  Good Luck!  Bill Mc ;D
