She got new power this weekend!!

I would get a different prop. I see 5800 is the max reccomended WOT RPM's, but most prefer to prop them so they turn the max or a little more when loaded light. I know when loaded light, many like to prop the YAMAHA's so they bump the rev limiter. This is to help with the making oil problem that MANY experience with 4 strokes.

think snapper season opens up june 1 over here and they doing that stupid 2 fish limit again this year. is it the same over there? pretty sure it a federal reg

the guy i am getting my boat from (88 dually) has pretty much the same motor. 2014, i think, with 130 hours on it. he texted me some pics of his motor a little while ago, all screwed up. seems that mercury felt like his boat didnt need a head gasket! almost the same boat, almost the same motor and he lives in houma. lets hope that the similarities end there!

WOW, they shipped the motor without a head gasket??? I hope they have improved their quality control. Was looking at the paperwork on mine and noticed the manufacture day was April 1, 2016, sure hope I'm not the butt of a cruel April Fool's joke! Yes red snapper year round in Louisiana waters, but don't go past the line, the feds are waiting.

I tend to agree, I think the 15.25 X 19 is just a bit too much for the 150 to spin. Just got a 14.25 X 18. Don't know when it will arrive or when I'll get to give it a spin, but when I do I'll report the numbers.

yea id call it a pretty big mistake! but pretty impressive that it ran that long though. thats a very well matched mating surface! and mercury is installing him a brand new powerhead

do you know that mississippi waters dont touch international waters? state line is mouth of the pearl and just about due east all the way to alabama. launch in long beach, go about 7 miles south, just past cat island, and you in louisiana!

How's it sit in the water & what were you running before? My 200 merc has my boats a$$ sitting pretty low & all the 4 strokes are heavier, but this one is close.

She sits about an inch lower in the water than before. The scuppers are just above the water line. I plan to move the batteries from the back to under the passenger console to compensate for adding weight to the back.

I tried the 14.25 X 18 Power Tech prop this weekend and did not like it, I'll be going back to the 15.25 X 19. At 4,000 rpm she did 27 mph and to get 30 mph took 4,400 rpm. I never got to WOT because it would have exceeded 6,000 rpm. This was with 2 adults, 2 kids, full fuel and ice. I got better speed and economy with the bigger prop.

Loving the new Mercury. Fully loaded down this weekend with the bimini top up it turned 5400 and 43 mph with the big prop. Not sure how far I ran but was fishing 30 miles from the pass so I'm thinking at least 70 miles total and didn't burn a quarter tank of fuel. Also very pleased with the built in fish box. I wasn't sure how well it would hold ice and how many fish I could get in there, it did awesome on both.

you talking bout the forward fish box? im not even thinking bout props yet, gonna see what the one i have does, aint got no prop money! have yall seen the price of beer? props, fphttt.

out here putting my old junk on my new old boat, thinking bout battery placement. ive got a 24 volt trolling motor so i gotta run at least 3 batteries.looking in the forward storage, in the aft of it in both port and stbd corners the stringers ron into the sideshell and make a bit of a shelf. think im gonna build on those and put one battery on each side up there. and the third in the port console. my 225 two smoke is 480#'s, close to yours so i got the same problem. installing trim tabs now

Yes, the 15.25 X 19 definitely performs better than the 14.25 X 18. The boat seems more responsive and faster with the bigger prop.

Yes, the forward fish box. I've seen some of these that are junk and don't hold ice well. I checked out the insulation and it wasn't very thick so I was planning to add some foam insulation if I could but I was pleasantly surprised.
