seat boxes

just started rebuilding a 79 V-20, would like to install two seat boxes under the swivel seats, anyone have any ideas where to get on, or any good ideas on building seat boxes, I would like to have that extra storage on board

You are going to have to build unless you have tons of cash to have some fiberglass guy build them!!

Reel built his and put gas in them!

Mine are old and ugly now, but here's what I did (in '99) w/ 2 x s, plywood and vinyl...

From what I read around here, the fiberglass ones are scarce as a honest politician... ;) ...

Went back to PB...deleted wrong IMG numbers, etc...re-entered correct #s, etc, but it still won't post...any ideas??...guess I should delete picture and re-enter to PB...

Sorry Spare, but your thread re seat-boxes just went in the DUMPER...FEEL FREE TO CHIME BACK IN ANYTIME ;) ...

I'll try to post the pics tomorrow, just bought the boat last Wed.  Its a 79 with a 84 200 Mercury, best of all its a fresh water boat( for the time being) Reel, I'm not far from you, I'm down here in Charleston. I may decide to build a mold if and make a few if some of ya'll are interested. Theres a small glas shop not far from the house, I'll give them any idea of what size they'll be and see what they'll charge to lay some up. Any input on size, shape, openings, ... I will probably make the mold myself, I've got a friend with 23 Sea Craft that I'm helping out that wants a box for his boat also

Spare, I've got a good friend w/ a boat at Tollers Cove...get down as often as possible...love Charleston (my family's originally from there)...

We've talked here before of molding one of these V-20s and goin' into limited production...most agreed it should be a full-transom w/a bracket to hold as much as 225 HP...stretched out to 22-23' LOA (not including bracket), cuddy model w/ CC to follow...80-100 gal gas capacity...useing the later model's self-bailing hull w/ as much flotation stuffed in it as reasonable...the seat-boxes you're lookin' for would be good option, insulated for cooling...30 gal bait-well built into the transom...

we've kicked around stuff like that...some of the other guys will offer more suggestions...if ya get 'er goin' you'll get a lot of support from here!! ;) 8) ...

i been on the hunt too. cause of prices, i gonna have to try to build them myself. i was thinking of going with smaller boxes, like these; http://www.boatbox.com.au/images/fitouts/Fitout 010.JPG
i dont realy need the livewell option. just wanna put fresh water washdown in one, and storage in other. but if we can combine our resources and come up with a more affordable option, i wont be that picky about what style. tx

come up with some measurements and ideas, like what kind of opening, lid, internal measurements, live well, fitting of a gas tank, etc... you guys get the idea. Let me know and I'll get to work on getting an estimate on building them. the glass shop is a low volume general job shop, should be right down their alley. I'll make the plug and  mold( thats usually the most expensive part), but in order for this to work, we'll needa box that will fit everyones needs. some pics of existing setups would be nice

reel, I work out of City Marina and work over at Tolers from time to time, my office is right beside Salty Mikes, give a shout next time you come down.

NCSTEP, what port do you hail from? I'm from Raleigh originally
