Scallops near Steinahatchee 2013

7/5/13 They are there and so are the people gathering. WoW! Almost intimidating to be honest. Water clarity was poor until approx. 3 miles north of Pepperfish, that is where we encountered the floatilla of boats like I never seen before. It was interesting with the weather getting up in the afternoon and all those people coming off the scallop grounds. We had a 35 mile ride to get home, left a tad early to make sure we didn't get caught in the lightning storm. The wife said 35 scallops?? Huh? We had enough for everyone to have an appetizer. Fried is still my favoritest way to eat em. 35 seems like a hellova low count to me.. Maybe she is trying to inflate my ego again. LOL. Camera is in the beach bag in the garage. More to follow.

How you seeing it up your way Seacrets?
I hear Homasassa was fantastic.

I heard a really good report outta crystal river and my neighbor is going there this weekend, so I'll have a more direct report then. We are booked for the hatch the weekend after Labor Day, so I'm hoping they will still be there late

That's not that bad, try the keys during sportsman lobster season. I've been down there where the boats were so close you could literally walk from key largo to key west and not get your feet wet.

My neighbor went to crystal river last week and said they limited in 1.5 hours between rainstorms. I've heard only good reports so far this season!

st joe is supposed to be thick again this year, we're gonna try to check it out sun.

we usually don't go until august or sept because the meat is so small, so awthacker, you might not get the volume . but the meat will be much bigger, that's the best time to go.
