RV Trip too the Keys

Willlie, I think you're thinking of Islamorada Fish Company. They'll even bring a bucket of water to your table for your dog.

Key West is recommended for a daytime romp even if you only go once. Duval street is cool at sunset with the street performers and the cookie lady, after that it is time to go with the kids. There is a small marine life habitat to visit but it is a little pricey. Buzz, the saw toothed shark, will be glad you came. Feeding time is interesting. Mel Fisher's and Earnest Hemmingway's house with all the cats. Sloppy Joe's the original and the new one. Hogs Breath has some cold beer. Parking sucks. Be prepared to pay $30 to $40 and they park it for you.
Montes Resturaunt and Fish House MM25 on Summerlin Key has some good cheap grub. Outdoor dining only.
Big Pine is a good place to camp or visit for the key deer. The deer are almost a nusiance to campers who leave food unattended.
The upper keys have more than a few good eateries. Tower pizza, Doc's Diner and Rib Daddy's are good and cheap in Key Largo. Snapper's is good on the high end but service is a little slow. Tarpon feeding all year.
If there visit John Pennekamp Park and go on a tour.
Bug spray is a must for camping and RV ing. Sand gnat aka No see ums. Problem is I can see them.

MONTIES isn't there anymore, and the last time I was down there the seafood house was closed down as well. MONTIES is now down in KEY WEST on the north side close to the marine basin. They moved about 2-3 years ago.

Unless something has changed this year, depending on what time of day and how much construction is going on in Jacksonville, it's usually better to take the bypass instead of 95 straight through town.
The extra miles added taking the bypass usually takes the same amount of time or less.

That is a shame. I looked up Montes and all that came up was Monty's a chain resturaunt. Time to go again and refresh the memory bank.

No Seacrets thats not it, I remember, Lorelei's. Nothing fancy or expensive but nice, very nice spot to stop and chill if you get a chance Randleman

I have been able to book two of our four nights in the Keys at state parks so far, I am checking "Reserve America" as often as possible. they pop up when people cancel.

One is at Curry Hammock and one is at John Pennecamp, anybody been to them?

Key's RV trip

Everyones info is great. Camping and kids stuff in the upper keys: You have John Pennakamp state park on the ocean side, the prices are reasonable and lots of stuff for the kids. They have boat rentals, glass bottom boat, beach thats great for swimming, eco trips kayaks and canoe's, dive and snorkel trips, a small aquairium, and nature trails. stop and the sites at holiday Isle. Must see the tarpon at Robbies Marina.

futher south on us 1 is The KOA at Fiesta Key just south of the channel 5 bridge. Not much in Marathon for tourist just the seven mile bridge and visitor center on the old bridge.

long key state park is on the north side of marathon with camping south of the koa so you have options their.

Bahia honda state park is the nicest beach in the keys. Big pine key has some camping also.

key west: You have fort Zachary Taylor in key west not sure about camping but a good time for the family with beaches and walking trails with great views of the harbor and all the boat traffic.

you also have the key west aquairium and several pirate and sunken treasure museums on the island.

Fishing from land or the bridges all depends on the tide and most folks due it at night. when the sun is not so strong.

As far as food goes I have eaten at or had drinks at alot of the places from key largo to key west and you cant go wrong at any of them.

If you have any questions I should be able to answer them. I lived in key largo for 5 years and worked at the coast guard station in islamorada. I have lived in key west for the last 2 years and work at the key west coast guard small boat station. Hope you have a great time in paradise.
