Rough Waters

When people have asked before, how a V20 handles rough waters I could never answer because I had never been out in really rough water. Today I can tell you personaly she handles it great! Started out today in 2-3 footers. Cousin had to come with us because his 16' aluminum would make it. The weatherman was wrong rather than dying down the winds picked up. Came back in with 4 -6 ft seas. Nothing life threatening happened just took it slow and the V20 handled them well. What a Hull! Bill Mc ;D

Common sense and a V20 will get through a lot of rough water, Good job and glad your safe

4 to 6 footers are plenty big enough! I'd rather not be out in anything bigger in my V-20. Glad to hear that you did well, and now you know firsthand what a great hull you have!

my son Charlie and I went out yesterday around noon, as we get closer to the ramp, Charlie notices the current is really burying the 5MPH can. He says "dadda the bouy is drowning".The tide was on the flood, had a WSW about15,and just had a full moon so it was a bit snotty in the channel. We're getting the boat off the trailer and another guy had just pulled up. He looks at me and Charlie [5 yrs. old] and says",you heading out?, it nasty out there".I thought to myself it's nasty if you're in a 19ft. Renken bowrider.I did say thanks for the warning,but, in this hull I've got no worries.Don't know what the guy was talking about, it was nothing more than a lite chop or at least it only felt like it

Or at least side curtains.  I boat with them in the winter, because of the "cold" (not too cold here  8)  ) and also because the winds usually kick up more in the winter.  They keep me nice and dry!

The slower you go, the more time the wind has to blow the water into the cockpit. Granted, you can only go so fast in 4 - 6, but I think if you could manage a bit more speed than 7mph, you wouldn't get quite as wet IMO.

I'M WILLING TO GET A LITTLE ( OR A LOT ) WET AS LONG AS I GET HOME. I'D PULL ON THE RAIN GEAR AND CHUG HOME, I GOT TOWELS!!!!

Yall are killin me!!!! ::)

I still havent actually rode in a v20 yet. I bought mine because I had the 18 wellcraft and loved it. I knew from looking at the 20 that it would ride and handle rough water great, but I still dont know first hand. I also knew after getting beat up and soaked in the 18 I was DONE with center consoles. >:(

Someone help!! I wanna ride in a v20 before mine is finished. ;D

I did enquire about Franco's enclosure but at the time I was redoing our kitchen and the dollars were used there. You are right it would be nice. As far as the speed, my brother in law was driving and he did kick it up a notch, we still got wet. We were lucky it was a warm day. Stinky its a great ride wet or dry. Your going to love it! Bill Mc ;D
