Rock n Reds today...

Left the inlet at a leisurely 9am today, headed in search of rock and flounder.  Had a dozen eels, some jigs n such, and left the flounder bait in the garage ::)

Here's how it all went down.   The horn dogs ate all my eels, but at least I caught 12 of them.

Playing around with a 6"chartreuse GULP grub on a 1 oz head, I caught 9 red drum from 25 - 28".  Also caught two rock, 36" & 42" on the same grub.  All the fish were caught around strucure in 20 - 25' of water North of Chinc inlet.

Water temps today were 53.5 ish.  Boat went back on the trailer at 330.  Seas were flat calm and winds were very light & variable.  Perfect day.  Pics in the morning.

I always look forward to your pics! Glad to see someone is still getiing blood on the deck, This weekend I had to tuck the V in for the winter :'( :'(

Sean, I'm not sure, but that sounds darn near criminal, putting her up for the winter :'(

Lumber, she got hosed down, but no soap. She's locked and cocked, ready to roll in a moments notice for the next adventure.

I have a terrible schedule this week, so I may have to resort to night ops ;)

Nice report, Air'. I'll be frequenting that area come summer and fall of next year. My folks are building a weekend/semi-retirement place just off Parkers Creek/Metompkin Bay area. 8)

Very nice Air, the guys up here in Raritan Bay are catching bass up to 38" on paddle tail (white) fished on jigs sized according to depth seen on fishfinder marks, doing well. My friend says he is skipping live bait all together this fall.

yea I skipped ive bait for fluke and black fish this year and fished side by side with my friends who were using killies or others along with squid and I did better or at least as good with Gulp, plus my bait lasted a lot longer.
Now my friend is using paddle tail plastics dipped in some kind of liquid and doing as good as live bait fishing buddies in his boat using bait.
Can't explain it, I still use live bait a lot but if I am late and have not got time for stopping or cast netting or using a subiki rig I dont sweat it knowing that in my tackle bag I have several variations that will be ust as good or even better at times.
On weak fish this year my friends have turned completly to gulp as it has outperformed live bait by a big margin

I hear you, some of the artificial stuff these days just blow you away, specially the soft plastics with cooked in sent. I use em to, specially with lite tackle.
But I love fishing with live bait, you feel the bait start to panic/run a litle and you know it game time, then WHAM fishon ;D
