OK.. I have the new tank for my '89 V. I was fortunate to find the original manufacturer in Perry, FL. They shipped an original replacement they had in stock for a very reasonable price. I have the new hoses (fill, vent and feed), the new thru-hull vent, new deck fill, sending unit and gauge. (I'm not messing around with fuel problems anymore)
It was a real pia getting the old tank out but I was able to do it with just a come-along and 3 2x4's nailed together and laid across the gunwales. The reason it was such a pia is because all of the foam at the front and rear of the tank took up all of the "wiggle room" I have a gallon of 2-part foam that will produce up to 4 cubic feet of foam.
What I'm thinking of doing is foaming in the corners and sides only, just in case it ever needs to be removed again. I'm also thinking of adhering the rubber strips that the old tank was seated on to the new tank with 5200. That is at the sugestion of the tank manufacturer.
Any input, good or bad, or any suggestions or things I should be aware of would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
