R.I.P. Merc 200

She bit the dust Monday...leaned out and scorched #6 cylinder...no crank damage, actually still runs fairly well, but compression in that cyl down to 60lbs...all 5 others strong at 125

But here's the real story aboard the fork lift who built the pallet and donated the Merc in the 1st place...Thanks, Vic...she was enjoyed by all right up to the end...
 
That sucks, bigtime. If I can get the V back, I will bring her down and you are more than welcome to use her for the remainder of your time there.

Hedge that's a mighty thoughtful offer...and I know it to be sincere, but if you left you V w/me and something happened, my fault or not, I'd have a tough time dealin' w/it...Hope to see ya down here, boats or not boats if yer still planning to come!!...
 
That is one ugly MO FO at the wheel of that towmotor. :haha:

So sorry to hear. Maybe you can find a powerhead, or just sell what is left over for seed money. I will be on the lookout..
 
Bummer for sure........but some solid motors out there if you look under lots of welcome matts.

Especially the Evinrude 200 carb motors - typically selling for around $ 1,800 - $ 2,500.
 
damn...you in OIB when that happened? Sorry to hear about it....I'm sure you'll find a way to have a good time e th. going to miss being there this year.

Yep...last time out w/the boat, was takin Pete fishin when he styaed over w/us...ran great that day...got it all ready, mounted the tow pole, brought it down here. Cranked up as usual, ran up and down the ditch, but wouldn't spin up as should...toppin' out at 4400 rpms and not jumpin outta the hole as usual...talked to Spare that night, hesaid sounded like a cyl down...hoped for bad plug or coil...but got bad news from outboard tech in 5 mins...:cry:

Miss havin you guys down...hope all better and we can get together next year!!...Shallotte Inlet will be there...:party:
 
Hey bud, hate to hear about the Merc. Very disapointing I'm sure. A lot of prep goes into a trip like that. Be careful on your ride home - gonna have extra tongue weight without the engine I'd imagine. Need to pick up a fluffy hitchhiker chic and sit her in the splashwell next to the beer cooler. That should do it.

I know you will pull a rabbit out of your hat and have another one hung on there before we know it.
 
I am sorry to hear that Oz, as you know I know the feeling real well.
Time to work on your Phoenix routine again and rise brother rise.

Aw man...actually it has been promised...Spare wouldn't call me anymore if I let this thing get away...:haha:

Hell...he might not call me anyway...:zip:...but if he passes on it...I already ran it by Ridge...if Spare passes for some reason, yer my next call...
