Questions about I/o to outboard conversion

Got the engine fired up today! Sounds great on the hose at idle!!! Getting closer one tiny step at a time!! Still finishing up wiring does anyone know if there are several wires not used in the engine harness on these efi engines or are they repurposed? Like choke, magneto kill wire ect? I mean I can start it and shut it down but have a few wires that don't seem like they would go anywhere looking at a generic diagram.

Glad to see some good progress. It should run out at a fairly brisk pace. What prop are you gonna try first? 19 Mirage should be near perfect. Sounds good, post that video up...

I'll put together a better vid and post it when I get back working on it! I've got a 21p prop right now and I'm gonna try it first... Hopefully it will be pretty close otherwise I'll be saving for a new prop also. What prop were you running on this engine when it was on your boat?

I ran a 21P Thunderbolt (Mirage Copy) and a 23P Tempest with vent holes for holeshot (signature picture) When I switched from your 250 EFI to the 250 XS I lost about 3 MPH. I took a old Tempest 25P and had it customized to get my MPH back. They knocked some of the pitch out and cleaned up the edges. I think I would try what you have first. It had ought to be close. When in doubt, trim it out...

Nah bud not quite finished yet... Had a lot of stuff come up I've had to take care of the last few months with family and work. I actually started back on it a couple weeks ago. Have the hydraulic steering installed and bled now. Bought a set of used Lenco trim tabs for $10 that I've installed all but the switch. I've started cutting the panels that will fill the area where the I/o once was. I really don't have much further to go at all! Just have wiring and reinstalling bilge pumps and things of that nature. Only thing I'm up against now is me and the wife are going on vacation at the end of the month for a week and a half to see her family in Cali. Going to work on it some more this weekend but not sure if the maiden voyage will be before the vaca or if it will have to wait till after. Once I get this thing on the water we'll have to meet up so you can see the finished product! I think it's coming together quite well!

Pretty much same pic I posted befor but now with trim tabs and steering installed.

She doesn't like the big black Mercury Outboard from the looks of it. LOL! Yes I see progress. Glad to hear your still at it. It won't be long now. Have a good vaca. Cali is a long haul. Lots of free radicals...

Finally got to take the boat out and run it today for the first time since i started this project. Have to say I'm pretty pleased looks like the hard work is paying off. Still have some stuff to do but at least I can say I know what it runs like. Top speed was 53 at 5700 rpm. So I think my prop is pretty much spot on since I think wot is suppose to be 5600-5800. :nice:

Thanks Ridge! Yeah not runnin too bad for a 32yo boat! Kinda reminds me of ole Shelby the swamp mans boat! Lol. Still have a few bugs to work out and loose ends to tie up but all in all I'm very happy with the outcome!!!

And tried to upload pics again and still won't upload so I don't know.......

No scuppers since it was a I/o originally. Handles about same as it did when it still had the inboard. I'm very happy with the set up as a whole. Still have little things here and there that need to be addressed but for a 30+ year old boat that's to be expected. I'll see if I can dig up any more photos and send them to you. Most of the ones I have of the swap are in this thread. I'm not the biggest pic taker just wanted to get it done. It's been almost a year now that I've been running it with this set up.
