Question for you's guys?

Why did you guys choose a cuddy or center console? I'm torn between the two styles right now in a major way. On one way hand the center console may be better for all out fishing, but I like to do some overnight trips and the cuddy would yield much better protection from the elements in this situation. Looking for input from you's guys on why you chose the way you did.

I like cuddys for the dry storage, It has a huge dance floor for every one to fish! And then dry ride is for everyone not just the driver.

I was on CB CC when he had it, it was a really dry ride for a CC I think the driest of any I have ever been on!

I think CC rides much better then Cuddy's

The CC gives you use of the hole boat and better anchoring, but I think it lacks the walk around space of a cuddy.

Cuddy is tight, good for one that wants to lay in there but tight!! But with enclosure you will have plenty of room!!

So I like cuddy for space, dry storage, dry ride, all around comfort.

All that said I love the Dually! Best of both worlds, but a little shy on storage.

Just thought I throw a kink in your choice adding the Dully!

O yea if you can get a full transom either Seadrive or I/O Get it!!
Makes a great xconversion and there is nothing like a full transom!!!

I have one, but it needs a transom and floor. I was hoping to have a useable boat by the middle of JULY, and I'm getting tired of rebuilding boats. All of the ones I've looked at lately have had either bad transoms, or spongy ones. I went and looked at a center console THURSDAY(sorry HAMMER, forgot the camera at home), The floor in it was solid with the exception of the forward storage locker cover and the baitwell cover. There was some pretty good cracking in the corner of the front deck port side, but otherwise in nice shape. The 140 JOHNSON had 145-148 lbs of compression, but the linkage was grossly out of adjustment for the carbs(no big deal). But the transom in it was getting spongy. The boat was in the water so I couldn't do alot with checking the transom, but when I leaned on the engine to remove the cowling it bounced noticeably. As well as the engine mounting bracket pulling away from the transom on accel. The boat rode solid, and was nice with trim tabs. But I can't get past all of the boats I've looked at with soft transoms and floors. He was dead set on $5100 when I got there, but was down to $4500 before I left. I was maxed out at $3500, and reluctant to go that high with the transom.

Here's the link for the one I went and looked at.

i got the cuddy when our daughter was 1 year old, she just graduated high school last week ;D and we still have the cuddy. got used to the comfort and storage and dry ride in weather and still need it. i know a lot of people like the dually, but to me it is the worst of both worlds. not as "fishy" as a console and not as dry as a cuddy. the do have tons of storage and look like good family boats with older kids.

i like the cuddy. plenty (not really plenty) of storage space and when the boss needs the powder room just send her downstairs with a bucket.
the cuddy is plenty big enough (yeah plenty) for the two stooges to lay down or just goof around.
yeah the cc is the way to go for fishing but the cuddy is a better all around boat.

Actually, I would love to see what kind of modifications you would do to one Stink. I mean that. I hope you find one so that you can lead the charge in making cool mods to these things...

Let's find a dually for Stinky... ;D ;D ;D

Ferm, To me - CC's are like corvettes. They are a 2-person ride only. If you are always the driver ... you wont understand. Try being the 3rd or 4th passenger in a CC in a bumpy sea .... and you will know why I dont like CC's. If its just you, and maybe 1 more, and you primarily fish .... I would say CC. If your boating needs go beyond that .... I would say the cuddy has to be the one. I will be replacing the drivers pedestal seat in my cuddy this season ... with a back-to-back .... so I will have comfortable seating for 4 people.

Most of the time it will probably be me, and maybe the admiral(unless you count the dog). My buddy that would normally go along with me is talking about buying my SEARAY 250, so he'll probably be doing his own thing. I'll be doing some diving, but mostly fishing about 40 miles out(40 miles is about 40-45 feet deep by me). My main thing is I would like to have a boat for my yearly KEYS trip that doesn't involve me getting rained on in the middle of the night, or sleeping with a tank up my rear.

Ferm,

Sounds that like Sea Ray you have might be the ticket... Or, get yourself a 248/250. That will have a big enough cabin to sleep you, the wife, and perhaps one more...

I'm not impressed by the SEARAY one bit myself, I don't like the layout in it. The 248/250 has been heavily on my mind though, ESPESCIALLY considering the fact I have a 315HP MERCRUISER in the garage and a complete BRAVO 1 sitting in the shed. But money is TIGHT right now! So the V-20 sounds a bit better, but I'm getting tired of taking people on there word and getting there and finding spongy transoms and trampolene floors. I guess I'm being to judgemental, I just want a sound boat. And I'm getting tired of constantly working on or redoing them without a solid one of my own. My other MAJOR hurdle is my SUBURBAN with blown head gaskets. Trying to get the SEARAY gone to pay for those repairs.

Thanks BG! ;D

Love the center consoles but as you said they just don't have the walk around room. Cuddy is alot more versatile, but I still like the center consoles. Get one of each. ;)

Love CCs in mild weather, but CC vs Cuddy no choice for me...I fish more winter and got the boat knowin' I's gonna have full enclosure made and add heater ;) ...

Ferm, you have a SUB, how cool is that!
BGA by storage on the dually, i meant the little cubby holes and built in tackle boxes, etc.
I've always thought of the cuddy as taking you moms station wagon to the prom, not as cool as some but plenty big enough to get the job done and get you home safe.
