Project V20 WaNteD

Well guys, I am new to the forum and have really enjoyed some good conversations /threads already. I was originally looking to purchase a cheap (few hundred $$) project boat. I then found Craigan and his DC for sale and immediately fell in love with it and it's potential. He is selling her for a great price but I am afraid it still may just be a little out of my budget. I lost my business about 8 months ago and have been out of work since. I just started a new job so it's going to take a while to catch up and once again be comfortable financially. I have worked on boats before and can fiberglass like the dickens so a project in ok with me. So with that said, if anyone has or knows of a decent V20 in the 20 plus foot range please PM or post here. I am still trying and hoping for Craigans DC but I thought I would throw this out to see if anyone has anything for me.

Thanks guys! :party:

I am also willing to offer;
1987 Thompson 290 cabin cruiser as a trade. My Thompson is a turn key boat with tons of upgrades <see pics>. For a trade I would be looking for a 20 ~ 24 foot walk around with trailer of similar value. According to BoatUS my Thompson is valued at 17k. I do not think that's realistic in this wondeful economy we all enjoy so much so if you have something that is a good fit for me shoot me a PM and we'll chat. ** understand my Thompson is 35' overall length with a 10' beam and weights 10,000 lbs so she needs to be professionally hauled.

Sure did. I actually went and looked at it last week. The hull is beautiful but that's it. It needs a transom reinforcement and the deck is shot. Not sure just what kind of condition the stringers would be in. If it came with the controls not just an empty console I would have jumped on it. I am afraid that it may just take to much $$ to rebuild having to purchase an outboard, controls, gauges and everything else. Although it certainly is a possibility.

I was gonna pick it up my self, but i have not finish my other projects yet, so no room in my driveway. If you can do the fiberglass work your self, with less than 2 grand you have new stringers, new transom, new deck all done with epoxy resin and 1708 glass.

True. But then there's the outboard, controls, electrical etc. She is a good possibility. I just don't have the funds for all that at this time and don't want to get in over my head.
