Openning Day

The MoJoe skiff was at it again today, searching for Fluke, with better weather. We started at the Cross Bay Bridge, back around by Canarsie and all we had to show for it was five shorts, with the biggest being caught by Joe and that was 18 1/4 inches. Joe had three shorts, I had two with a 17 3/4 and of course I can't forget those Rockin' Robins, which I had two of and Joe 0.

Giorgio - this is the most recent regulation I found for New Jersey Fluke limits:

On May 18, 2017, NJDEP Commissioner Bob Martin approved the following measures for NJ's recreational summer flounder fishery:
For all NJ coastal waters:
18-inch minimum size limit
3-fish possession limit
Open season May 25 through September 5

Default Re: ASMFC's Technical Committee rejects NJ's 2017 Fluke Proposal
NJ DEP Commission Martin signed into law the 3 fluke at 18" with a season from 5/25 -9/5. That applies to both state and federal water. Though the ASMFC fluke board found us out of compliance we expected this but a deal had been struck with the NMFS and we are not going to be shut down. Had we stayed with status quo (2016 regulations) in all likelihood we would have been shut down. If anything changes I will let you know. Paul Haertel JCAA Board Member/Past President
