I have a 20 ft cabin cruiser that had an inboard in it I would like to convert it to an outboard using this custum made bracket http://www.shareaproject.com/imageUpload.php?i=3672 ? what do you guys think of this it is 33 inches long another ? is how high do I mount the anti-ventilation plate from the bottom of the boat

Thanks Eugene

why did you post this 3 times?? Just go to the others and hit delete this post, and stay with one.

The Bracket is fine. You need to mount the cavatation plate even with the bottom of the boat.

But there is a rule I did not follow when I did mine, for every 12" back you go, you want to raise the motor 1" i believe?

I dont know if it is an Armstrong bracket but it has same configuration as mine. On a 30" approx set back bracket you want the cavitation plate to be three inches above a line straight back (keel line) from the hull. According to Armstrong techs that is considered ideal. With a caveat added, that is some motors are much heavier than others and you might have to adjust that height up or down an inch or so to compensate or you will be dunking your motor too much. Call Armstrong and talk with their techs, nice people and will be very helpful ;)

Sorry about the other post I dont know how that happend I was just editing my post and I guess I made copys But anyway thanks for all the info this is a 33 inch bracket so and a 20 ft cabin cruiser so I would mount the cavitation plate 3 inchs above keel line right one more thing do you think I should shorting the bracket

if you get a shorter bracket, and get a V6 motor you will not have room to lift the motor up high anough.

And you want it all the way up if you are moored, and anough to get it up a ramp with out hitting!!

If its not to much to ask can I see some of brackets that you guys have out there

I believe a 30 inch setback is pretty standard and should allow room for any v6 to be fully raised.

However, I don't think the extra 3 inches is gonna hurt you.  I'd leave it alone and install it as it is...

Also pay attention to whether you have a 20 or 25 inch shaft motor.  That will make a difference in figuring everything out.

I hope to be dealing with these same questions before long...

Oh yeah, if you'd like to know more and see more do a search on the word bracket. Also go to the gallery section of the website and take a look. You'll see a good number of brackets.

Have any of you guys ever heard of are seen one of these brackets made from glass

There are some out there, made coustom for high end boats, they are really a extension of the boat and work well.
But the cost of a coustom glass bracket will cost more the are V20's are worth!!!!!!!!

The V21 has a glass "bracket" from the factory. If you want to call it that.

I had the steel one made and would have used it, but I found one for $400

so I decided to use the real one and sell the steel one, but it was heavy, I say 200+
