What a Hockey game last night, Canada and the United States, women. We lost 2-1, but it was a great game. Canada's 2nd goal never should've been allowed, she was clearly off sides. I can't figure why the coach didn't challenge that one, Canada had two other goals taken back before. The Canadian goalie, she must've stop at least 40 shots, she was unbelievable in the net. I think Canada only had 18 shots on goal, but they made them count. I'm PROUD of these girls, they played hard, tough and wasn't intimidated by the Canadian girls, punches were thrown. They won't play again until next Thursday.

I see GOLD

We have GOLD and I'm not talking about any Weak fish, it's GOLD MEDALS for our AWESOME WOMEN'S HOCKEY, TEAM USA. Last night it was a game to watch, both teams played until they were going to drop and the goalies were just unbelievable. The game started around 22:30 and ended close to 02:30, then the Gold medal ceremonies. The game went in one 20 minute period of OT, then the first set of shoot outs, we took the puck last, which were at at 2 goals each, then the next set of shoot outs, where we took the puck first and scored and Rooney stop the Canadian shot for the GOLD !!!! Then it was time for the presenting of the medals, Finland, Bronze, Canada, Silver and Team USA, GOLD. All the girls with out stretched arms, held each others shoulder, started swaying and singing, yes I said SINGING the STAR SPANGLED BANNER, loud and clear. GO GIRLS of TEAM USA!!!! Watch the shot out video.

After the United States won a thrilling shootout for its first Olympic gold in two decades, the medal ceremony took place. Larocque had the reaction that was most noteworthy — yanking off the silver immediately after it was placed around her neck.

NBC never showed that, other than that I have no comment fit to print.

Although I think it might be viewed by some as a measure of disrespect, she also stated afterwards in an interview that she had come to the Olympics expecting Gold and that no other medal was acceptable. Given the videos of her being distraught and openly crying on the ice after the game finished I can understand how overcome with emotion she was. I don't think it was a sign of disrespect personally, just the reaction of someone overcome by grief.

In all cases it was one hell of a game, especially since the US team had lost earlier to these same Canadian women during the prelims.. Great game... one for the record books.!!!

Guess what, Larocque and Canada didn't win the GOLD, team USA did. I saw this young lady I think her name is Marie Poulin, from the minute they lost head to the bench, put her head in her lap and cry until after the ceremonies, she was still was crying during, I didn't see her take off her Silver Medal, nor did any of the other Canadian women, they might have been disappointed they lost, but they wore their medals proudly. Everyone who goes to the Olympics, wants to win the Gold even the teams who aren't that good, but they show class when they lose. Larocque showed no class at all and POOR SPORTSMANSHIP for her country and her team.

I was just so proud of the US team singing, just happy to win ,no agenda ! Larocque will learn that even "entitled" people sometimes get beat

Actually, I saw several of the Canadian women crying immediately after they lost. Larocque was one of them. (Hell, a few weeks ago I saw a few distraught Patriots football players with their heads in their hands after their lost in the SuperBow). Intensity and emotions do that to a person. As for her removing the medal from around her neck... so what? She never disparaged anyone, she never mocked the US team after they won. If she didn't want to wear the medal that's her business. OK, it wasn't the best idea to do that but in the final of a team sport like Ice hockey, unlike Gold and Bronze, you don't win a Silver medal,.... you get handed it because you lost. She was clearly crushed at the defeat. I'm sorry, but I don't see it as poor sportsmanship. (or would that be poor sportspersonship)? either way, to me it was a non issue. Certainly nothing to get worked up about.
