It’s a B.S scam. You get a $6000.00 credit. Per person over 65.
So if you make $50000.00 the reduce taxable income to $44000.00. So you pay the tax on $44000.00 not $50,000.00
It’s all a political scam. Making you b3lieve me included that you are not paying tax on your Social Security
Just wanted to pass this on. I just did my taxes and was expecting more of a refund I got a little more than last year.

I'm not drawing SS yet so I didn't know about this. But it never surprises me to learn that the big breaks that were anticipated don't come through like you thought they would. Meanwhile there is no serious discussion about reducing the debt, except for a proposal by Rand Paul. The debt is going to crush our once great nation, but politicians keep spending like drunken sailors.
 
I am on SS & Medicare. I always find it ironic that when they proudly announce SS benefit is going up $42 a month, they never mention your Medicare deduction is going up $53 dollars a month.
