Well, like Pete said some of us members got to hook up this weekend out in Barnegat Bay. It was the first time for me down there and its a great place for boating. It was me, Pete and Buddy for most of the day.
Buddy was an active member back a few years but has not posted in quite a while he said....His screen name was Buddy Buoy and I guess at some time in the past the format changed and he never got around to re-registering....Hopefully he will be back, he would be a great asset to our site. We also enjoyed his meeting his wife Kathy (Cathy?). She and my wife seemed to have a great time getting to know each other. Buddy's boat is UNBELIEVABLE!. A 1984 that is absolutely perfect....A truly restored classic.... We were looking for Lumberslinger out there as he had said he might show , but I think maybe he saw this boat from afar and ran home to put another coat of wax on! We need the 2 side by side for a real competition!
Pete and his tribe then showed.....my sons eyes lit up....some kids to play with!!!....they had a big time swimming off the back and climbing on the monster tube that Pete brought. Pete like Buddy is another seasoned boater....he works part time for Boat US towing in the less fortunate....hopefully I never need his professional services. He has done a TON of work getting his V in shape...new transom, starboard access hatches, repaired and painted rod boxes, electronics...he needed to be documenting this stuff as he went and entertaining us over the winter but I guess he'll just have to make up for lost time.
We did get a brief hello to Brielly too....he was just leaving as we were getting there and think maybe they might have had enough of the crowd. I think the only inaccurate thing Pete said is the estimate of 2-300 boats....I think they may have easily been 2-3 times that amount.
MJ, Willy and the rest, hope your respective loved ones are doing ok.....I'm sure there will be plenty of more opportunity for a get together.
Here's some pics!!
