Needed hatch cover

Hi all,
Just found this community! Also just bought a '78 V20. I put a 93 130hp Yamaha on her, and it is just about ready for the water. Can't wait! Waiting on a fathometer,so I can install the ducer before dumping her!
What I am looking for is, the hatch cover that is in the slop well. Mine was missing when I bought the boat. I have looked at a couple of different year V20's, and they didn't have a hatch back there. Instead, they had doors, if you will, in the front of the slop well. If anyone knows where I can get this cover, please let me know. I can see that the plywood piece that is there now wil not do.
Thanks, in advance, Rod

Rod, first welcome aboard! As far as the hatch cover in a '78 there were a lot made out of teak. You might want to just make your own out, it really is not oo big of a job if you have some basic wood working skills. If not perhaps a friend can help you out.

Teak wood cleaning

I found a guy at my marina who showed me a new trick to redoing TEAK WOOD !! we started with a 75% clear BLEACH 25% water and a good (PLASTIC) scrub brush . we wet the wood then sprayed on the bleach soultion let it sit 5 min. then scrubed it all . WALLA down to bare wood !! we sanded it down , let it dry , then re-aplayed 4 layers of oil , and wow looks like a new boat , who says an old dog cant do new tricks:news:

Cheap and easy way I've done before is to use a decent piece of plywood, sand it good, stain it and put on some varnish. Not show boat quality, but looks a lot better than nothing and will serve it's purpose til you can find the right one.
